    News Direct From The Front

We've been given some news, direct from Dice Live, concerning the rumors about the future of Battlefield 2:
I can with good conscious say that we are still supporting Battlefield 2 and no other decision has been made. Dice Live has been reached by rumors saying otherwise, although under normal circumstances we do not comment on rumors this has caused unnecessary concern for our Battlefield players.

Be sure to stay tuned and we will update you further.

hehehe, sounds like damage control is on the warpath for the sales dept and public relations. lets see them put their money where their mouth is and work on a new patch and give these mod teams the well deserved mod spotlight in game pop up they PROMISED them over a year ago.

i trust EA about as far as i could throw them, and they have the final say, not dice. they couldn't keep their word on the mod spotlight, opting rather to whore out 2142 so why should we believe them now. hey i hope they prove me wrong but id much rather see them support the mods, this late in the game its what will keep the player more than a patch will.

haha.. who would have thought that "mighty" DICE has been forced on its knees here.. haha.. n1.. ;D

anyways.. its their own fault.. they could just have been givin' us some updates before the conspiracy ppl made the bf2 player count on the servers fall dramatically...

but if u ask me its already too late.. ET:QW will take a good bite of the BF2 players and the rest will prolly be playin' some MODS..

clanbase recently announced that its holding its last 8vs8 EUROCUP tournament for bf2.. face it!

but plz prove me wrong, DICE!

Okay, so there's a lesson to be learned here about staying in touch with the community. This response is so amazingly late after the rumour. Keeping in touch with the fans is as easy as point and click which I'll never get about Dice.

The key to this games longevity are mods. Support in this area is laughable and 6 months down the track with dwindling player interest in 2142, there are still no mod tools. I uninstalled 2142 a few weeks after I (unfortunately) bought it for this reason (and didn't want to resort to the frustration of modding it with the bf2 editor.) I work on a mod for bf2 and half the tools I use are written by someone else (Rexman) and not Dice! I still can't get over how incredibly inept and frankly bizarre Dice's stance is on mod support.

I can with good conscious say that we are still supporting Battlefield 2
            HUH?

I'll tell you who are still supporting bf2... The god damn mod teams. EOD, PR, BF:A, FH2, BattlegroupFL, Pirates2, XWW2, POE2...and the list goes on...Dice abandoned everyone as soon as the last xpack was out for bf2. (and boy, don't half assed little booster packs really hit the middle podium for longevity.)

Of course they're responding to this rumour. All Dice "support" amounts to these days is recieving ranked server rental income.

Well, it's sensible to say that they will make a new patch.

I dont tend to take things on board, unless i see the proof in the pudding.

                  Word! @ kysterama

If they really wanted to support the community they would give the space inside the Ingame popup to mods. Every week another mod featured at another community site. There are Mods and there are people that try to explain how to use it. The only effort is the switch of the graphic every week and even the graphic would be produced with pleasure.

What effect has a "Modlight" that is published without the announced download options, without the announced "special event servers" at the RSPs, and without the announced interviews? And this another major point where DICE and EA failed to include the communities. They want a modlight? Well, here it is:

Pantau slot gacor dan update RTP hari ini bersama VIRUS88. Temukan pilihan game populer, informasi terbaru, serta akses praktis untuk pemain Indonesia sepanjang 2026.

and we make similiar reportages in Germany. So where is the problem to let the community write the reviews, make the interviews, set up some servers and use the god damn ingame popup? I'm sure that the big community websites are able to implement that as a network. One side makes the review, all together publish the news, offer mirror for the download and set up server. There is so much stuff done already that we could start immediatly. So if the people at the DICE Live team really support players and mods they should consider to do it exactly that way.

                  Give the popup free!

                  Cheers!

By the way: The player count for BF2 is constant for the first five month of the year. There are no ups and downs. We track the number of players since november 2006

I have had a chance to speak with [EAUK]guys they are not like everyone makes them out to be. True EA has the final say, but they can "possibly" turn this around and make it better. Besides what is dice working on right now???? More BF stuff?

Let's be real....supporting BF2 doesn't SELL more copies of BF2. They have sold 2+ million copies. If they support 2142, they can still sell more copies of that.

What I find incredibly mindnumbing is that they never learned from the DC model. That's right...DESERT COMBAT. Do you know how many copies of BF1942 were sold just so people could play DC????????

                              One word....idiocy.

Mod support SELLS MORE COPIES OF THE VANILLA GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
