But the Destroying the Ranking system destroys the whole game for everyone. If there are no ranks or awards, the game would just be boring and you wouldn't be working torwards anything.

ok sure...you think that...why was(and still are) everyone playing BF42 then? Was it for there stats, HELL NO...it was because of mods....I have been playing this game since august of 2005 and I'm maybe a Lieutenant or something(on of those low grade ranks)

I play for one, I don't need to be "working" towards anything, if you honestly cant play this game without a sense of "earning" something....maybe this ain't the right game for you.....

Well, Different games and Different ways they are run. BF2 is more run on the Ranking and award system, BF42 is more on the game play and fun.

And thats why DICE should learn the lesson from bf2, that the ranking system was a mistake and bring back the 1942 game play style

I aguee, I don't mind getting ruin of the ranking system, but if they do, I think they should change some of the awards around, too. Getting ruin of the many hours of Gameplay you need to get medals and other awards and make them easyer to get and not take so long to get. Also, getting ruin of the ranking system, you can put in one that would work on the amount of badges/ribbions/medals you have instand of the amount of points you have. That would make the game alot more enjoyable and be more to do with working on getting awards for a reason, instand of just getting them when you get to a high rank and you just have to get the award for the next rank up.

As others have said though, rankings are going to be kept for a long time to come because of the steady stream of income they provide from the extra ranked server fees. And that's business.

Maybe we'll be lucky and the datacenter where the stats servers are kept will be washed out in a massive storm. :)

Tell that to the hundreds of thousands of people who played Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam, and the many mods for BF2 and BF2142. Intelligent people don't need fake medals and ribbons to feel good about themselves. Eliminating the rank system would be awesome - in a single sweep, you can prune out all the idiots like Eye here who play for nothing but ranks, leaving a smaller player base of people who just want to play for fun. They can then all enjoy the game and get a taste of true teamwork, not hampered by little 10-year-old Jimmy and his buddies who teamkill for jets because they have to get that aerial excellence badge.

All I said was that we should replace this one with a new one that would get ruin of getting ranks by points and get ranks by awards; It's alot better of a system.

Ok, I'm sorry, but I have to say something. I am not normally one harping on grammer, but c'mon on, you've been using the word "ruin" instead of the word "rid" too many times. This is basic English:

"...that would get RID of getting ranks..."

Talking about changing the ranking system, they'd be better off adopting a system similar to BF2142. Squad members get more points by following squad leaders orders, squad leaders get more point by following commander's orders, commander's get more points when squad leaders follow their orders, squads can get field upgrades, extra points for doing things like killing the enemy within a radius of an order to capture a flag. This would at least help promote teamwork on ranked servers.

Oh, and allowing mod teams to apply for "Ranked Status" so mods could be part of the BF2 ranked server system would be cool too.

Yeah, but if they do it like 2142, kills would only count as 1 and it would take 2 or 3 times as long to get ranked up, like it does in 2142.

I've been playing BF2142 ranked casually once or twice a week. Yesterday I played for two hours and ranked up twice, because I ended up with 2000 points in a round due to badges and stuff. So that's not the issue, 2142 is much much faster. Besides, the squad bonuses don't give you points, they give you field unlocks.

I aguee. People who use teamwork with their squad always get high points and rank up faster. That's why there are clans in BF2 and other games.
I really wish BF2 was more team based, instand of having pretty much everyone for themselves. Even having squads, people still will go off and do whatever they wish in BF2. Mostly, It's the fault of the players themselves who think they are rambo and want to just kill alot of people. BF2 almost never works that way and most times, you will get killed more times for doing those types of things.

Lots of people jumping on the DICE bashing bandwagon, pretty funny as most of you wouldn't know where to start on a project of this magnitude.

Be grateful that BF2 was supported for as long as it was. Oh, did I mention the 2 free maps too? yea, they didn't need to add those in either, but they did!

As a customer, I could careless how big or small a project a company is working on, nor care to know the details. And why should I be grateful for a service that I’m paying for through Ranked servers and expansion packs? that's their job, they're getting paid for it. I don’t mind paying the money, however, I do like to see positive results. I believe the two maps were giving to us because they screwed up the patches 1.1 (I think) and 1.3, they didn’t give it to us out of kindness.

And why should I be grateful for a service that I’m paying for through Ranked servers and expansion packs? that's their job, they're getting paid for it. I don’t mind paying the money, however, I do like to see positive results. I believe the two maps were giving to us because they screwed up the patches 1.1 (I think) and 1.3, they didn’t give it to us out of kindness.

They messed up on patches 1.20,1.21,1.22, and 1.3 (< which was THE WORST ONE)
