hey Crrrazzzy just to clarify, what is the stance on unranked servers?

I can understand your poilicing of ranked servers(every ones gotta protect there stats ) but I see absolutely no problem with doing whatever you want on an unranked server. If people want to have fun fooling around with knife and pistol servers on an UNRANKED server who are you stop them?

Its only a video game, you can only go so far....

The point I am stating is this, I bought this game if servers wanna have rules thats fine, because they are running the server, but if some outside source tries telling me you can't throw medic packs all around so your team mates can get healed! I will just ignore them. EA has not yet clarified a ROE they said they may, but with the recent news about no more patches (who didn't see this coming) I doubt it.

i was born at night .... but it wasn't last night. You're right you did not mention BFROE specificly (even though we speaking of TotalROE nooblet) but you were definately eluding to it :salute:

if it matters at all ... i do hear what you're saying and can somewhat understand it as well. I too started as a server admin ..... you do pay for it after all :)

AGAIN ... jsut shows how mis-informed you are ..... EA does have rules .... and k/p serrvers is a clear and defined AUP violation......


this is called "dipping in the mustard when you ca't ketchup" TotalROE bans NO-ONE EA does that......... they just observe and report .... please get the facts straight.

they do nothing more then what you could do on your own, and have no more power then the average joe blow.

What EA does with those reports ... is their call ..... personally ..... i would not want that blame/responsibility of doing the banning myself.

Why can't people get that right for once? sheeesh...

Then please explain this email I got from EA when I asked them for a copy of the official enforceable rules...!!!

I have requested this information several times from them and the best response they can offer when called on the carpet about it is posted below.

EACS and the ROE have no creditability with me until I see a new official document that they are willing to stand behind 100 percent.

If EA has released something in the past few months to address this question since I asked them, then give me a link where I can view it.

Please don’t waste my time posting links to the same old crap that we have been reading since day one as EA has already admitted to me via email there is no such official document and that their legal depart is working on approving one that I have yet to see posted.

The email posted below deals with several questions I have been talking with them about, however the statement I am referring to is in bold. Sounds to me there are no official rules in place just generally accepted practices.

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts.

We understand that there has been a lot of confusion lately in the Battlefield community regarding just what is legal and what isn't when playing on a ranked server. We are currently awaiting our legal team's approval on a document that will allow us to finalize a Battlefield Rules of Conduct site that we have been working on. Once it's finished, we will be announcing it on the Battlefield portal at http://battlefield.ea.com/battlefield/bf/.

In the meantime, the generally accepted rule is that a server cannot implement rules that unduly restricts a player's choice of kit or vehicle. This means that each player should have the option to select any kit and use any weapon that they choose, and to use a vehicle if it is available. However, we generally do not police the server administrator's ability to remove players from the server that they are administrating.

On a final note, the websites you mentioned do not officially represent Electronic Arts or DICE in any way. They have the ability to report players and servers to us for rules infractions, but this is no different than what any member of the Battlefield community can do.

This is what I was saying before too. There is no real ROE (except for the ranked server terms) that EA has released yet. There was even news like a month ago in which EA was saying that they would probably make it clearer but with no date in which that would be in effect.

And good job [MyIS]Crrrazzzy you caught me...yes I changed some words around, but the first time really wasn't intentional to specifically say BFROE BANS people. Oh well its grown into a lamer service anyways...to bad GameWizard still wasn't calling the shots maybe he'd shut it down. Wait what ever happened to him? 2.3.1 Disallowed “In-House” Ranked Server Rules:

Server Administrators may not implement or enforce server rules on ranked servers that prohibit players from using any roles, kits, weapons, vehicles or other features of the game while playing on their server. Examples of such rules that would violate the conditions of use are:

(a) Preventing any players from being Commander or Squad Leaders.

(b) Preventing any players from using certain vehicles such as jets, helicopters or tanks.

(c) Preventing any players from using commander assets (artillery, vehicle drop, UAV or scans).

(d) Preventing any players from using certain weapons or items (such as flashbangs or C4) or enforcing a “pistol only” or “knife only” server rule.

These are rules set forth by EA ... violate them and EA Legal is on the phone shutting that ip off......
now you ask yourself... "how does he know that?" ..
i am a GSP and have to abide by their rules...plain and simple, like it or not!

now the next question you would ask is "well what does it matter. shut it off or let me (the paying client) deal with the repracutions?"
When EA "De-lists" a server they block the ip sending to Gamespy. which concidentally happens to be the router ip. Everyone knows that with a router you would host multiple server address's. When this happens our other paying clients are impacted not to mention we are in violation of our contract.

the only other comment after that you could have would be "we'll who cares ... its not me that gets in trouble its you."
and this is where we part ways :salute:

WOW can we all get any more off topic here. This is just a video it isn't the recipe for making LSD... Take a chill pill and if that dont work then drink a tall glass of .... you get the point. Now as stated before I think [MyIS]Crrrazzzy
explained it and others have added there 2 hot cents. Just watch the promo, you either like it or don't and move on.

They never were, we would have not wanted that label anyways. Its intent was to fend off false reporting. and actually doing some leg work to verify things :salute:

All I can say to that is I am glad I don’t play ranked BF2 anymore. Between the ROE & EA you guys have turned this in to a big bad joke.

I am sure I speak for many players that originally supported the ROE program in the beginning when I say it’s going to take quite a bit for you guys to gain any creditability in the community again.

As for the video yea it was nice but you guys should have taken a less in your face approach with it considering the programs past track record and the controversy it created in the community.

I don't have anything against you guys personally as I am sure your all pretty much stand up guys. However I do have a major issue with how all of this has been handled with the community from the beginning.

Hell no, the idea was to make fun of the "Server Police will own you" stigma, and generate some more interest whether good or bad in the Total ROE site and by looking at the comments, i think i can pat myself on the back.

Also, I see ROE as more of a resource place rather than a book em and **** em kinda server guard.
