that submarine sure does look exactly like the one the northern conflict team has been hard at work on. are these the subs from the northern conflict mod? have they teamed up with you guys?

      Real nice Power.

It really takes a lot to get me to post on these forums but I feel compelled to add to this.

I for one used to rag on NAW all the time because they didn't bring anything new to the table but a few more vehicle spawns and a few gigs of maps.

It seems now though that they are working hard to bring some dynamic gameplay into the mix. Your other post you were sayin stuff like they stole the idea of subs. That's just plain crazy. If that were the case then I guess NAW an Northern Conflict stole the idea from FH because they were the first mod for BF2 to start working on it. Anyone can think of things to put in a mod, just read these forums and you will see a lot of them. It's another thing all together to actually get ideas working in the BF2 engine.

If you know anything about BF2 modding, then you would know how it's a wonderful achievement to even get a sub working in game. FH had one in game diving an what not awhile ago, NAW is the second to do so. Hopefully NC will get their subs working soon as well. Just don't try an make NAW look bad because they achieved something before and after another mod team.

I highly doubt anyone from NC gave the model to the NAW guys and said here make it work and put it in your mod. Just because the models look similar doesn't really mean much either. There just isn't a lot of choices in the sub department when it comes to modern day warfare. Also there isn't much detail to a sub when looked at from any distance.

Sorry for the rant but the NAW guys deserve a lot of credit an congrats for this, they don't need to be called copycats.

easy there buddy, who said they stole anything? can you not read? i asked if they were working together since NAW are already working together with more than one other mod team importing their content and that sub looks exactly like the northern conflicts teams subs and anyone who's seen the northern conflict video immediately thinks the same exact thing. it sounds like you may have missed the updates where they announced they were importing content from other mods like sureal.

i only asked since that would be great news for a mod player to learn that development is on a faster track with even more new content. sounds like you need to go decaf buddy, you have some issues.

That was the base of my post, seemed to me like you were saying they stole the idea. That is where all that came from. If you think I have issues and I am really pissed off then so be it. I just don't like mod bashing for no reason. Maybe next time I will not use the word rant and you will take my post seriously.

yes but you went and posted this with an alias profile rather than your real profile, some of us can see ip addresses here.

you know why i took that kinda stiff position, its because they threatened to sue a fellow developer and coder for altering their work and you yourself being a small mod developer should really feel that one, im not a dev, just a hardcore mod player and that legal threat they made was just too much for me to stomach, it soured my entire outlook on their coming update.

Well I don't know where you get that differing profiles thing. I am Junkoe. Sometimes -=WSG=-Junkoe and others =CDU=Junkoe. I am always Junkoe though. I just can't be bothered to always make new forum accounts if I change my clan tags around. -=WSG=- is my own personal thing so I used that quite a lot. It wasn't until some months ago that I actually joined the =CDU= clan though. I gamed with them for years before finally applying.

Now about the whole sueing thing. I don't think either of us know the truth. From what I gathered the guy was speculating what would happen. The person who created the nuke, released it to the public to do what they want with it. The creator has done a ton of things and released them all for anyone to use. Some mods have used his stuff and NAW is one of them. I for one highly doubt any of the NAW devs ever even contacted that individual who modded the nuke further.

I have seen your reasons now hopefully you can see mine. Least we both like mods lol! I am no mod dev though, just a server admin an server side modder.

i know what your saying but i kinda like to believe people are telling the truth rather than not. true i dont know the entire story behind the situation but it sure did look like one small time moder was being bullied out of the game by a larger mod group.

of course it wont stop me from playing the mod, i welcome ANY new mod or change of pace and am in awe of the work these developers do, its just mind boggling. i cant wait to see that sub do a suicide surfacing right under a Sea Shadow, SURFACE SURFACE SURFACE !!!!!

Re: Nations at War Mod Update

The model was done by me (not the coding)...if it looks like someone elses 688I maybe it's because it's based on the same class of sub?

For those who asked if the interior screenshots were taken while submerged?....yes they were.

The sub is behaving like a sub.

Coding for a realistic "surface breach" is currently being worked on (animation and water wake)

Periscope and sonar positions are looking good right now... All coding is done by NAW and not based on any other MOD.

Why would you highly doubt that we ever bothered to contact him? Why would you even state that?

The creator was asked and gave his permission in writing. Kano always asks for permission and is a stickler for getting PM's back before going ahead and using content. We always ask and we always give credit to them.

You are getting the wrong idea. I was talking about the guy who modded the nuke in another thread. I am sure you talked with an worked with SatNav. I was saying I doubt you ever contacted the individual who did further modding to the nuke. You would have no reason to threaten legal action against a guy who modded something that was freely given to the mod community. I was defending you lol. If you read the thread below you will see what I mean.

Read this thread to see what I am talking about. http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113922

Hi guys first thank you for your kind words.
Nations At War has had a hard year we started
as most of you know as a mod designed for our
tourney but we "the devs" decided that it was
                            holding back our creativity,
we wanted to push the content as far as we could
and get as much content of hight quality in game as we could.

Hence the cooperation thith WCC/Hard Justice,
                            Surreal and satnav.
With the help of all the guys at
bf2sp we are able to offer coop and single player
                            in the next release too.
                            We don't have any alliances
with anyone else as yet only those listed above but
we are always willing to work with other teams so the
whole community benefits, it allways seemed pointless
that 3 mods all work on the same piece of equipment
draining time and resorces from each mod where now
we are able too develope items togeher for our mods
to share, this way fans of Both mods get more content
                            quicker and in game.
No release date as yet as we are not very good at dead line's
plus new idea's and finished content seem to be flowing in right now
but a release is imminent i assure you.
RC1 is in the hands of the beta testers and they seem to be very happy
with what we have accomplished and say its a vast improvement in the
overall quality and game play of naw although they say bots are not as
easy as they are in stock bf2 which i guess is a good thing.
Anyway once again thx for your support and kind words hope to see
you all soon on the battlefield soon checking out naw 5.0.

Damn... you NAW people have just created more work for us mappers to create more of a seabed rather than leaving it flat and un textured :p
