I wonder why you all moan so much, like elderly ladies ;-)

Cant say im that impressed. We have several games coming out in the near to long term that are going to go toe to toe with what ever is the next PC itteration of the Battlefield franchise. Sad to say that Dice/EA have used and abused the very community that put them in the position ot make BF2/2142. Unless they come out with a very good game all the graphics in the world may not save them.

          Re: New Frostbite Engine Images

Just to point out the obvious and one of the things that will be most relevant to mappers and modders is the fact that DICE has moved to a completely real-time shadow/lighting system with this engine. Given the potential size of the maps and that almost everything will be destructable (in addition to the limited memory on consoles) there is really no way around that.
This means no more lightmap precomputation and suddenly things like day/night cycles, search-lights and any other lighting effects are possible but the funny thing is...lightmaps can look really really good and create an atmosphere in a map that is hard to replicate with the hard and often pixelated shadows usually implemented by shadow-maps (the console battlefield versions come to mind).
In any case...I'm psyched about the new engine and can't wait to play "bad company" on my 360 and really hope the BF3 anouncement comes rather sooner than later (I bet its already in preproduction)

those screenies look nice, the grass looks crap..still!..lol
they had better make this a pc title or ill be really cranky with dice and so will alot of others.
as for grafix..."grafix in a game are as good as the artist that created it."
bf2 could have looked so much better with a little more love put into the models and textures, and some fine tuning of shaders.
            .
FFOW will kick all the others asses!..lol

I really hope they add voxel terrain, that would a godsend.

I totally agree with your comments. EA abused the community.

So has everyone else. Hell, doom3 had full volumetric lighting and it's how old now? I'm not trying to be a pessimist, but its too little too late. As mentioned by others, anyone that's been on a mod team for bf2 should be very cautious of even entertaining the notion of modding anything else DICE throws our way. At this point I'd be surprised if they have the huevos to promote modability

You all have to admit though, it is a step up from what we are use to with the current BF series. With it still being "new", it can only get better...hopefully. Either way, it'll be a good excuse to upgrade my rig

Looks to be a preety good engine. Destructible buildings is a godsend. Not only will it be awesome to murder everything in sight but this means realtime shadows, dynamic light systems , no more pre-rendered ai path finding!.

this is the big issue for me... although I really love the idea of a destructable environment, if this title lacks good AI for coop play then I will not even give this a second glance.

just because the SP/Coop crowd is not as big/vocal as the MP crowd does not mean they should be overlooked by the developers

No thanks, all my future modding ventures will be with cryengine2

I mean, look at this, there sandbox editor looks amazing-

Im sorry but Dice lost there chance, I will never mod for them again.

The only reason I have stayed with this engine was because it was the only one that offered a huge dynamic world were I could use vehicles mixed with infantry....but thats changed now, its no longer a new thing, and other games are doing it so much better...with so much more mod support.....

Some people can never be pleased, and most of you are the prime example.

You all mention how crappy of a game BF2 is/was yet you're still on BF2 forums and some of you are BF2 modders...

DICE pushed the game early, and the game was plagued with bugs and glitches..yet you still played, some over 500-600 hrs (if not more)

Any comparison to any single-player focused game is pretty much useless if only for the amount of things you can do in-game over 64 player, with the level of graphics you CAN push on the BF2 engine.

I think the engine looks great for a demo, as I believe Crysis will look good as well. It all comes down to gameplay, and BF2 provided us with that..or else none of you would still be here.

                                PEACE
