Stargate: La Relève Mod Update

There is a new update posted today over at the Stargate: La Relève mod website. Here's a translation of what they had to say:

After a short introduction to the universe of Stargate, Vanth starts to present the gameplay MOD, the such various types of play present, the classes of characters (laughed Tau' and Goa' uld), and their respective weapons. We have right also to various screenshots of models characters, maps (Chulak and Abydos), vehicles and weapons. At this time a doubt comes: is the MOD well balanced? The fans of the series must know that the universe is unbalanced enough in him even, Goa' uld being quite higher in a number and at the technological level (yes Sir, laughed Tau' have strokes of luck each time and because they are nice they must gain). With this Vanth answers that indeed, no playable version general public is available this evening for the MP4 because of this problem. Nevertheless we will be entitled to a presentation in-game. Hi everybody :)

This news was just a report of a french event called : Mod party. During one night, 14 different mod were presented to the public.
About SGLR, we presented the gameplay of the mod that will be explain in another new, coming soon. Then, we made a ingame demo on a giant screen.
It was good for us to see that our work pleased a lot to the public.

During this night, we talk with players and other modders from other team, and someone were working on other stargate mod on source engine for exemple.
It was very intersting and our motivation was ever so big to continue our work, and to release something soon :) (A news on our website annoucing beta tester recruitment will be release soon :) )
Know that we just need to balance the two side to release a demo version of the mod (the content of this will be explain in aother news too :) )

I've said it 4 times ill say it again, at least the name of this mod has to be changed. As soon as this becomes playable or gains any significant interest the mod makers will receive a cease and desist notice from MGM.

I've said it 4 times ill say it again, at least the name of this mod has to be changed. As soon as this becomes playable or gains any significant interest the mod makers will receive a cease and desist notice from MGM.

well if you had to say it 4 times something tells me none cares what you say, hahah, jk. theres only 1,000 mod players in all of bf2 and i think its going to be pretty hard to say these mod developers are profiting from this, thats how a CAD order gets issued, if a profit is being made, this is a free mod. i would cite the FREE "beyond the red line" game designed around battlestar galactica as a case point.

There have been numerous Stargate mods over the years, MGM don't really care if your making money off it or not they have shut down every one of them.

Also BSG isn't owned by MGM.

yes MGM have been btches in the past shutting down the hl2 mod and the UT2004 version but the bf1942 version didnt get shut down, im pretty sure these are the same devs that made it, they just updated it not to long ago. you can still download the 42 version HERE

and mod db has the development info HERE


that 42 version is pretty sweet, if you havnt played it its worth the download. i think the devs just need to get permission first, otherwise how the heck is the first strike team making a starwars mod.

damn, you might be right, i see there is already a stargate MMO in production but theres also some rumors that development has come to a halt because of bugs. who knows, maybe they will assume the BF2 mod community isn't large enough to worry about harassing, heheh.
