    Battlestar-75 Mod Update

There is a new update posted today over at the Battlestar-75 mod website. Here's what they had to say:
We had a last minute discovery that allows us to increase the map sizes of the 64 player maps by 4 times...This will allow us to include for EXAMPLE: 5 Cylon Bastars and 2 Battlestars and several other capital ships, all together in one map(with NO LAG) for more intense fighter combat.....So this being the case we have decided to push back the release to next weekend.....While we know this may upset some of you,we decided to offer up the intro video for the BSG-75 mod that includes the actual ingame models of the Battlestar Galactica,Cylon Basestar, and raiders...(Reminder:The intro video is still a work in progress) view the video on Youtube here:

Big fan of the series, so looking forward to playin this one :)

I'm assuming having space levels means there's not going to be that many statics as you would find in a normal bf2 map. Logically the lag would be not as bad because of this (so long as the capital ships aren't poly monsters. :) )

If you are running at BF2 recommended PC specs and a strong internet connection, you wont have lag! There is no overgrowth and undergrowth for the engine to stress on!

ah thanks FMJ all credit goes to maxkarnage, hes amazing. you should see the thing hes working on for the map. also about the lag, theres nothing there to lag on, we've seen testers with the s%$tiest machines run it on high. its just when you see other soldiers in thier high detail you will get lag. Also those are ingame graphics! how hot is that?

                Very hot

Very much looking forward to this, I loved the Rise of Kobol minimod with the zero G environment. Will the jump feature that was in Rise of Kobol return or has that been scrapped? I know Viper Mk. IIs are not FTL capable but I had alot of fun using it in the minimod. Jumping my unexpecting squad to a different grid hehe.

Looks and sounds great! Can't wait to download this. Only one question, what is the view distance and draw distance like? Because it would completely ruin the mod if they were same view distances as BF2 of like 200-500. That would deeply sadden me. At the same time, I hope objects appear at the full ranges of the view distance, because in BF2 you will see objects disappear before the view distance/fog takes over. I just don't want to see capital ships suddenly pop out of the fog in space. I hope the view distance was maxed out as far as possible.

Hey answer both of your questions. Eglearinion we still have the FTL! thats one of my favorite things in the game also we (they the modders) added the FTL flash so we can see some pretty flash goodness. There will be the same jump distances as in RoK. again i like to point out all mod credit goes to modders im just a tester and public relations.
Solodude23, lol hell no man, we got i dont know ill double check but its like 50 KM view distance, very far. it would be nice to see forever but all i know is youd see some f-ed up stuff. so dont count on a strange galactic conquest version where an entire capital ship can come out of nowhere. you can see the capital ships any where on the map but fighters you have to be a bit closer to see. hope to see you on the "battlefield?" (space)

i have a question on the controls. i remember with rok you had to alter your controls config file to get that 6th axis with the pov control on the joystick, will we still have to do that or will we be able to map controls ingame?

yayzors. solodude23 go treat yourself go to www.battlestar75.com and look in bottom left, theres a little picture that changes each time you refresh. check out some of the work.

*FMJ*Power, what your talking about is that the mod team had trouble with the thrusters so you had to repeatably press the thrust key. so they said you had to go into the config so that when you press teh thrust key you get a continuous thrust. ill go ask them on teamspeak to doublecheck if its fixed because i am now quite sure.

Update: ok, asked the guys they completley forgot about that, they want to thank you and they are gonna start working on that.
