Desert Conflict PR Media Release #3

{RR}SinisterCaesarSalad is back again today with the third media release for the Desert Conflict mod, this time covering Outskirts of Mosul. Take a look:
This time, I want to show you something special to the Devs and testers here at DCon. In addition to the remade maps from BF1942 and DC that will be in the first release, we will also have a custom/concept map. This map has quickly become a favorite with the Devs and testers. Personally, I feel like it's like combining IO versions of Karkand & Jalalabad with another great map from BF1942: Omaha Beach. Our Lead Coder, Kiff, came up with the concept of the map.

If you guys/gals like the map, which I think you will, Doorstop and showNOmercy will crank out a bunch of custom statics to update the map for a later release. I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of 24/7 Mosul servers out there.

I'm not going to do a fly-thru on this map, I have some screenshots so you can get a feel, but trust me, it'll be a LOT more fun to explore the map once you get it. There's a lot more to this map than meets the eye. All 4 game modes will be available as well. CTF, Conquest, Objective and Domination.

Now that looks like an awesome and fun map to play, plenty of hiding spots, buildings that can be entered, right up my alley i reckon.

            nice use of statics :)

once bit i would like to point out how ever is that you guys need to make your fog colour match the same colour as the bottom of you skydome texture. at the moment they are totaly diffrent so you dont get a "fade out" effect when terrain/objects stop to draw :)

            hope that helps :)

Rhino, thanks but we already know!

Just that the mapper who made this sky.con didn't want that effect,
he thought it gave the map a cold feeling.
And even though I wanted the the fade-out effect, it wasn't my baby...

I did tried that with the same color as the sky, but we wanted a warm sunset look, and with that blue fog it turned the map into a complete other look.
Maybe I still have some screens with that blue fog color, I will look for it later on.
Futher on I dont think you should look at it as fog, but more like shadow.

Hey guys. the map concept looks great. IMHO, you could change the existing skybox by just altering it's color parameters and then adjusting your texture colors accordingly. I've done it many times on my maps to achieve a distinct look. A map that looks this good deserves nothing less imo. I always play around in photoshop first to get the look that I may be after...here is what I did in a few minutes in PS for this map:

                          Good job guys!

Although I am completely sure the suggestions on how to color the map, or what to do with the fog is done out of consideration, its not needed.

I have played maps from both of your teams many times before, and I can assure you, the help isn't needed.

This is one of the best maps I have ever played, period. Kiff has created a new classic, and it needs nothing but the public to come to the bloodbath.

I think its looks totally awesome, and I guess screenshots always look different than experiencing the map while playing it :)
