Point of Existence 2 Map Pack Released

As promised in their last update, the Point of Existence 2 mod team is back today with the release of their community map pack. Here's what they had to say:

The contest winners map pack is ready for download! As promised we are releasing the fan made maps and the BF2 map ports today! We would like to thank all those who submitted maps and all those who supported the mappers along the way.

The BF2 maps that we have ported over were mostly done by Sgt Wedge. Each map retains the 16/32/64 player formats but has been updated with pick up kits, equipment, vehicles, and in some cases some flag layout tweaks.

Between the contest winners and the BF2 stock maps, there are 19 maps!

I was on earlier and there was an almost full japanese server on Acorn, and a near empty one on Red Dawn.

Jumped in on red Dawn for a little while, well impressed with many aspects of the map, and reckon it will be great fun on a full server.

Hell, it was even fun, plaing with 4 other folk.

Good job guys, and looking forward to playing the other maps.

PS from the poe forums, looks like tactical Gamer will be putting the maps on there server.

I played all maps last night on Hypernia - I think they will be best played as Infantry Only.

My clan will have quite a few of us on our 64 player server tonight. We'll be running the new maps, and we can easily change maps. Figure a start time of about 8pm CST/6pm PST. Those of you with TeamSpeak, feel free to join in, as that's where the fun really is.

ok i just loaded up the maps and to my surprise i cant play them, i join a server the map loads normaly and right after the join button pops up i crash to desktop with no error message, also when i try to create a local server and i hit the create button it also crashes, only happens on POE2, and yes i have 1.41 for bf2 and i tried to repatch poe but it tells me i already have 1.1.5 installed, any help? i cant play any map, not even the original ones

You installed the server package, not the client package.

wait you mean the map package is server? but it says client on it its about 270,600 kb

we released a zip file with _server in its name for servers, this file doesnt have everything that clients need.

we also released a zip file with _client in its name for clients, this is a self installer and has everything a client needs.

poe2 is such a nice looking mod. one things missing though.. GAMEPLAY!! it's just like playing bf2.. which imho sucks balls.

a frontlines system would make the difference.

We have a gamemode called frontlines. Perhaps you should check that out.

POE is best played on small maps - Infantry Only. Great tatical gameplay for adults.

oh yeah, now i remember.. you do. i probely forgot seeing as there is no servers running that gamemod.
