Re: The Last Battle Movie Released

err retard ever heard that it was not a war? err errr duh? Conflict nice try though... congress did not declare war.... and we did not lose it BTW... we withdrew at the request of the S. Vietnamese
This technicality of "war" is true, it was never declared as a war by the congress. However, the mainstream public does not see it this way, nor does the world. It's a de facto war and considered as war. Since the U.S. apparently lost to this apparent "conflict" that is labeled as "war", the popular opinion and history considers this a War that the United States lost. Regardless of it not being technically War, the magnitude, degree, and intensity of this conflict will always be known as a War to the past, present, and future generations.

South Vietnam never requested for U.S. withdrawal, it was under Nixon's "Peace with Honor" initiative. The document of this was the Paris Peace Accords signed by the United States and North Vietnam. South Vietnam opposed this negotiation, but reluctantly recognized it after the U.S. promised financial and military aid. However, the Congress kept reducing the war budget, limiting the promised financial and military aid to South Vietnam.

Nevertheless, I am curious to know what your sources were to make you believe it was the South Vietnam that requested U.S. troop withdrawal. You could claim it was South Vietnam's acceptance of the Paris Peace Accords, but you have to realize the country was pressured and promised by the United States of is security.

Because no one can add a motion blur and fast forward!!!

I found the movie to be crap. Such a long intro would lead one to believe the rest of the movie would be good. Oh i was so wrong.

"South Vietnam opposed this negotiation" no they didnt... the south VN started the whole thing before the TET offensive... but once they proceded to get their a** handed to them again... wah wah wah come help us mighty USA... then that was over... up again well we dont want americans here any more... a** kicked...wait come back... and so on... nazion (nixion) was only involved for his "peace" BS so he could win over the DEM in that years election.... come on man.. if your going to use wiki read it all the way....

The truth is, the U.S. withdrawal from Vietnam was a great victory for the anti-war movement. They were able to undermine a war in which America never lost a major battle simply by sapping the nation’s will to fight.

In 1968, when former CBS anchorman Walter Cronkite surveyed the carnage after the Tet Offensive and declared on television that the U.S. was “mired in a stalemate,” he literally made it so. Despite the fact that the Viet Cong suffered the greatest casualties and that U.S. and South Vietnamese forces triumphed, Cronkite’s words won the day. Thus was born a generation of journalists who believed that it was their moral duty to hold themselves in opposition to the U.S. government and, by extension, the U.S. military, no matter what.

ABC White House correspondent Terry Moran admitted as much in a radio interview last year when he said that many of today’s journalists are victims of what’s been labeled the “Vietnam Syndrome.” He described “a deep anti-military bias in the media. One that begins from the premise that the military must be lying, and that American projection of power around the world must be wrong. I think that that is a hangover from Vietnam, and I think it’s very dangerous.”

When the U.S. pulled out of Vietnam in 1973, it was a vindication for the anti-war movement. Isolated incidents such as the My Lai Massacre were expanded to paint all American soldiers with the “atrocities” brush. Hence, returning soldiers and veterans were treated more as criminals than heroes. In the wake of Watergate, the presidency was exposed as corrupt and morally lacking. In short, it was a confirmation of everything the Left believed about America.

The after effects of U.S. troop withdrawal on Southeast Asia were none too pretty either. Millions were slaughtered in the Cambodian genocide and hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese fell prey to summary executions and re-education camps. Thousands of South Vietnamese, desperate to flee a hostile and totalitarian regime, became “boat people” in order to reach freedom in the United States. When Congress cut funding to the South Vietnamese in 1975, they were left at the mercy of their enemies. "you reap what you sew"

Contrary to those who dismiss the “Domino Theory,” the Soviet Union, who backed the North Vietnamese, was emboldened to pursue an expansive foreign policy agenda in the years following U.S. withdrawal. The long-term effects of communism in Vietnam produced a country mired in poverty. To the extent that progress has occurred, it’s where capitalism has been able to take hold more recently.

              yay me!

I barely used Wiki. The only reference I used from that source is to know the name of the document in which the negotiations finalized on. I remember this well as it was similar to what the Americans did in Korean War: They negotiated with the Chinese and North Koreans for cease-fire. However, the South Korean government protested against this, yet the cease-fire was agreed upon.

Sure, Nixon could've started that initiative due to coming elections, but nevertheless, no matter what the motivations were, the American government was trying to find ways to end this conflict other than by war of attrition. To the world, they didn't care about the America's or Nixon's reasons behind the withdrawal strategy, only that it happened. Again, provide a source in which the South Vietnamese government requested U.S. withdrawal during the conflict. I can safely say that anyone who reads your claim that "South Vietnam wanted U.S. troops out" will believe it to be BS.

I'm going to assume the rest of the post were simply copied and pasted from another site. Next time, whenever you copy and paste an article, use quotations or the lovely quote box and list its source. It's quite common for people to pull off articles from biased sources to bolster their argument. However, it is much more rare to see people actually plagiarizing like you just did. I won't be surprised if you got that article from a pro-U.S. military or patriotic website by using google.

As for the article itself, the article is an opinion, supported by opinions of two reporters/anchorman. Should it be no surprise that there's still a debate going on whether the media was biased against the Vietnam War that fueled anti-war sentiments during the 1960s and 1970s? Same debate is going on today about War in Iraq, whether the media are influenced by liberals, democrats, anti-war factions, and all other groups that are against the Iraq War. That article doesn't add much to your argument, it merely conveys your argument better- much better than from your own words and writing. This is no document, but more of an editorial, an article based on opinion.

Promising start till I saw the line "To free the people of Iraq"... Just makes me sick how people are beliving the propaganda. Had a hard time watching this movie seriously after the naiveness of the maker became obvious.

I think there were some fairly ok parts but nothing I haven't seen before in a BF2 movie. I didn't spot any story line and the battle didn't seem to progress at all. Just random scenes put together in to one big blurry mess.

Mean while your British troops took a sun bath in the south by Kuwait, the us military rolled over the Iraqis... I mean come on. We completely rolled over them... soooo how is the story false?
And how can you say that America did not kick a** ?
Are you trying to say that because we didn’t bomb and run... that we didn’t kick a** ?
Or are you pointing out the insurgency? Because that is really funny... you tell me where the insurgency has regained any ground? And where is its base? Where is the leader? lol...bunch of retards running around getting pwnt... lol... the US to Terrorist loss ratio is 120:1 pretty good for war standards.... the only reason you have the crap that we have today is because of the left media publicizing every little POS they can... WWII at Iwo Jima The United States lost 26,000 casualties, with nearly 7,000 dead marines in one month 19 Feb - 27 March... that was one month.... we have been at this for years now...hahahahahhahaha So you little man need to STFU

You have any idea how long it took to rebuild Europe WWII?
Rebuild england (in lowercase for your enjoyment) for that matter after WWII?
How many millions of AMERICAN TAX PAYERS DOLLARS WENT INTO YOUR COUNTRY FOR REBUILDING AFTER THE GERMANS KICKED YOUR A**ES?? THAT WAS NOT NOT NOT PAID BACK????

I laugh when you brits come on to any forum and open your mouth, only to insert your foot... America staying the course and helping Iraq by freeing the people is the only way to win...

I served my country in the US MARINES...what have you done for yours?

I really feel sorry for you. And I have a hard time beliving you have served in the army. I'm under the impression that people become a bit more mature when they go through that.

They needed the US military and economic support to fight the North. In 1963, Pres. Diem knew these dangers and opposed US troops presense, and was killed for it. In 1972, the US withdrew, and it was fine. South VNese was able to repel the North with the US aid. But in 1975, the US Congress decided to cut most of the aid, and the South could not stand alone when they had to depend on the US for everything.

In 1962, Pres. Diem wanted to build an arm industry to make South VN self sufficient. The US came and put it away. In 1970, Pres. Thieu wanted to build an ammunition factory, but the US said it would be more efficient for the US to supply South Vietnam.

You don't seem to realize that you actually plagiarized did you? Do you even know the difference of plagiarizing to submitting or creating your own work? You copied and pasted the entire article and slapped it into your post with no credit given to the author or at least a source to it. You were trying to steal the work of another person as if it was your own. There is very much a difference in researching and then using that information to create a work of your own than researching and then "slapping" on those research as if it was your own.

And yet, it doesn't change to the matter of the fact that the United States were trying to withdrawal for their own, never by the request of the South Vietnamese government.

I am not going to MLA the whole thing but all what i have said is true...
Obviously then all you about "South Vietnam requesting U.S. withdrawal" said was BS lies, you couldn't and never did find any documents, source, or any information source that backed up this claim. Why do you think I was so inquisitive about it? You were the first, out of all the Vietnam debate I've read and listened that actually claimed this, so I was skeptical.

They needed the US military and economic support to fight the North. In 1963, Pres. Diem knew these dangers and opposed US troops presense, and was killed for it.
They needed the United States for support, so how did Diem perceive this as danger? I don't recall military and economic support as "danger" other than from its ramifications such as public opposition to the government. He was more killed from from falling into "red scare" paranoia.

In 1972, the US withdrew, and it was fine. South VNese was able to repel the North with the US aid. But in 1975, the US Congress decided to cut most of the aid, and the South could not stand alone when they had to depend on the US for everything. In 1962, Pres. Thieu wanted to build an ammunition factory, but the US said it would be more efficient for the US to supply South Vietnam.
No, in 1972, U.S. partially withdrew. The time between U.S' full withdrawal to the resumption of North Vietnamese invasion was only about a year. And I have no idea why you posted this, it is irrelevant to my words you quoted. What you just typed is not a document from a reliable source that supports your claim, but simply a summary in your own words recounting the last days of South Vietnam. Again, I want a source, link, or any documents that clearly shows that it was South Vietnam that requested U.S. withdrawal, not from you own words. This does not warrant that you should plagiarize however.

Also noticed that you said american government wanted to find ways out other than killing the whole country... well of course they did.. all governments are like that... The military kicking charlies a** is what counts.. always...
You obviously do not have a clear understanding of "War of Attrition" means, it's not "killing the whole country" but more of "kicking charlies ***" and making sure there is little of it.

Do forign people really think that americans give a rats a** what you think?

By world, I did not mean by foreign countries, but more of universality. There is almost no country, including the United States, that perceive the Vietnam War as a conflict, but as a war. We recognize it as a "war" that America lost to regardless of the fact that it was technically a conflict.
