The fourth campaign of 21st Century Warfare’s BF2 era has now come to a close with a clear victory for the Opposition. The Iranian 75th Adnan Infantry Division led by General Saptiva, and the Chinese 27th Group Army under command of General Mad Croat overcame significant challenges to capture the Opposition’s second straight campaign victory – this time for Opposition Commander in Chief Toe Cutter. With 1 week left in the campaign, both Opposition divisions sealed the fate of the Coalition by sweeping that week’s battles.
The Coalition did not make the victory easy bringing the fight right back to the Opposition and recaptured vital territory in the final battle weekend of the campaign. The American 10th Mountain Division commanded by General Ack Ack, and the 3rd British Royal Marines directed by General z00keeper never gave up, and closed the gap before finishing the campaign. Coalition CinC ArchAngel is no doubt proud of the deportment of his troops in the last week.
Significant rivalries – as well as mutual respect – have shown themselves this campaign, and will no doubt flare up again. There are more than a few scores to settle, pride to be restored, and tea to be brewed.
The latest 21CW campaign brought the soldiers of 21CW some of the best work ever seen in BF2 mods and maps. The development team outdid themselves. In addition to the copious amounts of work in the past, they brought us these new toys to play with: mortar kits, improved sounds, the A-10 and Su-25, paratrooper kits, Gazelle transport and light attack helicopters, handheld Stinger kits, RPGs, … the list goes on and on – I’m sure I’ve missed some favorites. Not to be outdone, the mapping team worked magic on several brand-new 21CW-exclusive battlefields. The maps played this campaign ranged from close quarters urban infantry through full-air combined arms – making stops in arid desert armor clashes and humid jungle settings. Changes planned for the fifth campaign are being kept tightly under wraps – hints of adding game play variety and air force asset improvements have been made... Campaign 5’s battlefield is expected to introduce much more covert operations which will no doubt separate the wheat from the chaff.
But the mod itself – spectacular as it is – is only half of the 21st Century Warfare story. The dedication of the 21st Century Warfare Society’s leadership, membership and organization is unparalleled in the realm of modern warfare tournaments. Smacktards don’t last long here, and team play is the rule, not the exception. Every soldier in 21CW participates in making their division a well-oiled machine. The results are undeniable. The two 12-hour battles each week of the campaign are the most intense and rewarding way that BattleField 2 can be played. 21CW virgins all describe one or more of the following after their first battle day: shivers, goose bumps, severe euphoria, cold sweats, and/or the inability to recall what it was you were supposed to do in RL six hours ago.
21st Century Warfare is a FREE tournament, supported by its soldiers and MyInternetServices.com, who graciously provides server space and administration services to the tournament just because they love to play.
