As someone that enjoys games but isn't completely geekcore, i've gotta say not only am I amazed at how incompetent EA and Dice appear for all the problems that appear in this thread, but also the very basic things like telling people when patches are out. I only realised this patch was out when my server list dropped to 93 today, and even when you go to the site its easy to miss 1.41 - it still isnt listed in the downloads page. It might only patch one thing, but its not like its voluntary to install when all the servers switch to it.

In this day and age you shouldnt have to be an expert or someone who checks the website every week just to play a game. EA aspire to make the PC games market fully mainstream, but thats never going to happen with the level of service we get - it wouldn't be accepted anywhere else, so why is it ok with games? Can you imagine a digital tv provider making a patch that your box required to work, and then not telling you about it??
The window that appears when you sign into BF2 would be a perfect place to have patch release news, but instead EA just use it to try and flog us 2142. If they didnt make BF2 so hard to like maybe I'd actually buy 2142

And what a surprise its not running now ive installed 1.41. Everytime I try to connect to account server the computer just hangs - doesnt connect, no error message, no response to keys. Left it for 15minutes and nothing. Any one have any ideas?

Well, FYI I just updated my unranked Linux server and updated my client and it works dandy. Even with BF2CC. Took 15 mins in all.

EA and dice can suck my *** for all this crap they are putting out. I have spent a lot of money buying there BF2, Euro forces, SP forces, Armoured fury, and unfortunatly I bought the BF2142. I should have just flushed my money down the toliet. This new patch has made it impossible to play this game. I can go onto servers with a ping lower than 15 and All the game does is lag, lag, lag. I cannot play any maps or on any servers since this new Fix as they call it. I will never buy another EA/ Dice game again. Nor will I be apart of giving people money to buy anything they make. They are not good enough to pick up my dog's crap. But I would like to thank them for turning me onto fre games like Silk road. Ea you will not get anymore money from me.

This patch is insane. I just hope it won't crash my install.
By the way, I tested BF2142, and I must say that there are better mods out there. For free. How can the SELL that kind of stuff? Oh, maybe they don't care about the game but aboutthe money. Doh, sounds like Hollywood. Damn!!

It's OK mate, there isn't anything catastrophic reported. Check out the bugs section, the only new bug is soldiers with missing helmets/hats! Funny, eh.

Go for it, just download and install straight over 1.4.

I just installed it so that I see more than 90 servers: worked fine, although i can't remember if I had full or upgrade 1.4 patch.

yea, Ive had no issues, and have not even seen the no hats bug.

BF2 just CTD when:
1. Going to MP->Create->Selecting a map->Start Server->CTD
2. SP->Selecting a map->Start Game->CTD

This has happend in 1.4 patch as well.
It is pretty annoying when I want to practice something.

Anyone else having problems aiming after the new patch? I dont know what it is but I have noticed a huge difference. My accuracy is going up but my ability to shoot is just ****ing ****.
