        Re: Remembrance/Veterans Day

I would like to officially tip my hat all who have served or are serving in our military. Being a veteran myself I know the sacrifice you have and/or are making for our country and I thank you for that.

Here are some pictures from out Veteran's day parade... touted as one of the largest in the nation. We only have two parades a year, once for the 4th of July and once on Veteran's day. This particular Veteran's Day was a raining and dreary day, with one little sun break before the down pour nailed our little town, yet thousands lines the streets of our little town and the parade lasted for over an hour and a half. The majority state of Oregon may vote Democrat , but rest assured we value our troops here in my little town.

What is missing in much of these picture is the cheering and applause as our troups marched, or, for our older WWII vets, driven by. I apologize for the quality of pictures. The light wasn't the best and these were taken with my old clunky cell phone.

        Enjoy,

        Nice....

In Russia we have 2 special veterans dates :
22 of June when the 2 world war began for my country
and the 9th of May – the Victory day.
All this days are commemorated to the honor of the soldiers who died for their country and the peace in Europe.

                      Happy Veterans Day.

                        Re: Remembrance/Veterans Day

I know this is German based, but it's something I made a while back and thought it'd be appropriate here.

The picture was made in the modification "Garry's Mod" for Half-Life 2. Using Day of Defeat models. The picture represents a German squad mourning the loss of three of their comrades. The ghosts of their comrades, as a final good bye, sing them Ich Hatt' Einen Kameraden. You can listen to it here.

The reason I posted this was not only because it is something I made involving warfare, but while we salute our soldiers both alive and those who have passed here in the US, take a moment to think of the families of other militaries that have fought in the past. German, Japanese, English, Canadian, Russian...it does not matter who. Each soldier in every conflict had a family, and each soldier who died on any 'side' of a conflict in our history had a family who mourned the loss of them.

To the soldiers who are currently in service. Thank you for standing up and defending our country. For the soldiers who are veterans or have served in the past. Thank you for your service. For the soldiers who have passed or died in war, thank you for your service. I salute all of you.
