    Desert Conflict Mod Update

The Desert Conflict mod has been quiet for awhile but they are back today with a progress update on their mod. Here's what they had to say:
I know you all are bothered by the lack of updates and so on and so forth. Its normal to feel that way. Also normal to voice your issues. However, work goes on behind the scenes..

So, here is a brief update. Its not visual but it'll have to do for the moment.

We've just started getting our newest test build to the testers and are about to begin a new batch of testing. Some bugs - mainly minor ones - but annoying nonetheless, are being hammered out and dealt with. The new maps are looking good. Some Lightmapping issues have crept up on some static so i'm having to rebuild a few of them to solve this issue.

The coders are tweaking the vehicles currently as well as some last minute additions of vehicle models and what not. A new build is being put together as I type for the devs which should become the final build for the testers.

The mappers are making sure the maps look pristine. I.e. making sure no grass is popping out of static models flooring or making sure rock arent floating or buildings arent floating and so on and so forth. Sound is adding their magic to the mod by adding ambience to the maps and vehicles and tweaking the sounds as we decide on what sounds best for a specific model.

Life for the team is as normal as can be. We keep trudging on. We're a small group of guys but a group who love this mod more than anyone and who have spent more hours working on it than you all have spent on almost anything.

The team is dedicated and steadfast on getting it as bug free as we can and getting it the way we want and being happy with it.

When news such as video or pictures become available we will post it. Testing in mass hasn't begun and therefore no pictures.. We take alot of our pictures in game while testing this generally shows the current status of our advancement towards an Alpha Release to the public. This completes my spiel on the subject.

        YESSSSSSSSS

More than anything I am waiting for the maps. Not one single BF2 map holds up against any opf the 1942 and DC maps. I hope they really are like the old ones, and not just a name with a couple similarities.

I'll see if I can get some map screenshots approved by the Devs for you guys. The current testing versions of Lost Village and El Alamein blow my mind. The Devs are pumped for this mod. They want it out to you guys soooo bad. The behind the scenes chatter is intense and frequent.
Hold on a little while longer folks, you'll not regret it... even if it's Alpha, lol.

Very good news. They dont have to be exact, but close enough to have that old feel, man this better come out soon. Otherwise, I will have to wait till it does, lol.

Lost Village? Can you enter most of the buildings, like the original one?

                Re: Desert Conflict Mod Update

Since i joined the DCON team i didnt had more sleep then 5,6 hours a day.
Yes i had some rare sundays when i did make some good hours, but for most of those months it was sleeping, going to work, come home, turned on the pc and worked on the maps...
Not just an hour a day, 5 or 6 hours is the standard shift.
If you dont believe me, ask my wife or my friends...
                Why?
Because i want those maps to be as close to the original as you do.
I'm a hardcore fan of DC and i can tell you that our maps are not just a map with some similarities.
My first map for DCON is gazala and it became my baby.
I'm doing everything i can to make it look like the old one.
Maybe the first alpha still has some maps with hills that are not the same height as the original, but we will sort that out when we have some more time.
I hope we have some people accuse us of porting heightmaps again, cause that means we did a good job.
All of our maps are made by hand.
You can enter a map and you can actually close your eyes and walk to a flag if you played enough DC.

So, the less updates you see, the harder we work.
Please give us some time to finish it up so its playable and have that old feeling.
As told before, we are a small group compared to some other mods, but we all work as hard as we can do...for you.
It will become a great mod when time comes, really.
I have seen so much talented people in our dev crew, it just has to be.
Just remember that our first release is not final, it just shows a little of what its going to be.

                              that mod is HORRIBLE!

the models are made rubbish....the geometry is totaly wrong...best example is the A6....it has sidewinders? that plane dosent have air to air capabilities!
and the T72 looks like a mix of an old 70's sports car and a bloat pancake, the Hercules is too fatt and so is the Harrier
