    Battlefield Podcast Episode 29 Released

The team behind the Battlefield Podcast site have released episode 29 of their series today. This new episode includes chatter about the newly released Battlefield 2142. Here's what they had to say:
At last episode 29 hits the net and it does so with a bang! In our first show after the official release of Battlefield 2142, we have a lot to talk about. We run through the gamut of Battlefield 2142 reviews, including a video review from Gametrailers.com, and of course our own first impressions of the game. Can anyone guess G.I.Jersey's favourite feature? We've got another tip of the week from our good friend Bruce who seems to have relocated into the Battlefield 2142 game, as well as an on-location field special from Poco Loco, Battlefield Podcast reporter. Next we tackle the most controversial story of the week: the in-game advertising in Battlefield 2142. We've got an exclusive response from DICE's Colin Clarke that will ease a lot of listeners' mind. Of course, the show is jam-packed with mod goodness, a new stylish mouse from Logitech, the High-Definition version of the Battlefield 2142 intro movie, a first patch, and we announce the winners of our two most recent contests; 50 Battlefield 2142 games and 10 Battlefield 2142 Zboard keysets.

As always we invite you to visit our forums to comment on this episode and others, chat with our huge listener community, check out our brand- new Broken Eggs Media Player (click on the screenshot image above), and vote for us at Podcast Alley. We also want to remind you of the benefits that Premium Subscribers receive (high resolution video, private forum, etc), not to mention that fuzzy feeling of supporting your favourite podcast. Finally, if you haven't noticed yet, we have our own ranked Battlefield 2142 server now and if you're skilled or lucky enough to nab one of the hosts' dogtags, we'll feature it on the front page! So get that knife sharpened and get busy!

Good show guys, though any idea if there has been a loss in the BF2 community vs. the BF2142 community? Iam wondering how that is working out, if there is any news on that front.

        Cheers,

        T

Err, what Apostle said... any BF2 news. Though I think we have a new podcast; Battlefield 2142 Podcast Eps. 29. Yeah, we know there is a new game, we know it's pants... How about something on the actual game mostly everyone is still playing. Still, I've thought about how much of a better job I could do.. so maybe if these guys have left BF2 hanging, there is room for something else.

This podcast is about the Battlefield franchise in general.
                It applies to any.

bf2 is doing just fine - if that chart is true. But it is just one week.

What we see is bf2 player numbers hardly change and up to 25k new gamers start playing 2142.

The bf2 peak numbers stay in the range of 27k to 30k players along the week and the 2142 numbers go from nothing to 30k but without affecting the bf2 numbers. Bf2 starts the week strong with max 30k and ends on 30k too.

The only difference seem to be that the 2142 players stayed up an hour longer on sunday (but they started playing an hour later on fri) and about 2k more stayed on all night - but thats not enough to skew the numbers badly.

I swear 2142 is the new unrealmp, the figures seem to show that it has attracted completely different types of gamers into the franchise than are likely to play bf2.

Who could have predicted that result? Certainly there will be some move from one game to another but overall thats a big win profit wise for Dice/EA but may also present long term problems with supporting both titles adequately.
