Dawn Patrol Mod Announced

Cheeseontoast, from the Surreal II mod, has sent us some news today of a new mod he is working on called Dawn Patrol. Dawn Patrol is a as close to a flight sim you can get for BF2 and features a wide variety of aircraft. A play test is currently available so listen up:

Welcome to a brand new mod for BF2. We tried to think of some cool way to introduce the mod to the community but couldn't, so we decided to let you try it instead.

Overview:
"Dawn Patrol" brings "seat of your pants" dog fighting to BF2.

Aircraft:
WW1 Bi-Planes - WW2 Classics - Futuristic Spaceships - Famous TV / Movie Planes

Weapons:
Your plane is equipped with guns. No heat seeking missiles or other "smart" weapons

Competitions / Game Modes:
Dog Fight Combat - Inter-Era Combat

Play test includes - Albatross Dva, Fokker Dr1, Fokker DVII, Neuport 11, Sopwith Camel, RAF Se5a.

Wow what a cool idea! How will he overcome the flight height issue?

First idea that came to mind other than dogfighting would be maps set up with AI on them and then allow squadrens of players to team up and take out the ground targets while another side defends from the air and the AI defends from the ground.

I really hope this takes off!

LMAO - this is one fun mod!!! Do you actually get to punch people if you can catch them on the ground? I was to busy in the planes, but did notice one side punches, and one side has a knife....lol.

Pretty cool..

I had fun with the air show mods from the 1918 team so im sure ill enjoy this if someone ever gets a server up and running

Anyways, im sure it will beat the hell out of the Flyboys Online demo I downloaded.

Very entertaining, although I now have blisters on my fingers...allot of planes in the air though....need to get rid of that constant firing noise when you are engaged, its too loud and irritating....

Thanks for your input etc guys. Currently there are only Pete and myself working on mod and its just a play test version. All ideas and suggestions are welcome. We are gonna add 2 more WW1 plane (soon) then move on to a new arena. Anyone have any favorites (Star Wars, SG1 etc etc) Absolutely NO modern day jets, there's 1001's doing those.
