Our very own HKSniper is back today with his latest review article. This time around he tackles the very unique BattlePaint v1.0 mod. Here's a portion from the review:

BattlePaint brings on a unique experience into Battlefield 2. It plays much like the Paintball modification, in which you are in a small to medium sized 'arena' like battle area armed with paintball guns firing at rapid speeds with tons of ammo. However BattlePaint takes the gameplay further from the Paintball modification and sort of runs with it.

First of all, weapons are fast shooters and require no reloading. However, they can 'overheat' preventing people from just running around with their gun going off continously. The battles consist of taking flags and holding points just like in vanilla Battlefield 2.

This is a pretty sweet mod!

I like the matrix type of feel with the streams behind the paintballs.

But dont forget, if you let your 6 year-old play the game, there may some cursing going on...Nothing can stop it.

We are already at work for next release and we try to do a real evolution with vehicles & concept maps (something very special)
We will translate map description and others words write ingame in english and german...
and many little things more.

cumoon, the mod's worth it just to listen to the loading music :laugh:

that said, the rest isn't the greatest. huge lack of weaponry / vehicles. the paint balls drop pretty quick so it's really hard to aim. some of the levels are horrible (the rainbows / clouds in the sky one, miss one jump and you're climbing up from sea level for 2 minuts, that's if you can get up without being shot down again) and the teletube hut one, all i've seen of that is the hut surrounded by carebares and the tubbies getting shot to hell inside - no spawn points outside and only a couple small exits i also keep getting ctd's with a load of levels as they load, and had horrible lag on some levels for whatever reason.

but, it is amusing. and if it didn't keep crashing i'd keep playing

I still play BF paint, I already unistalled POE2.

Great review BTW, I play this mod with my 4 year old son, and sometimes when he is asleep too. LOL

Some maps need more escape routes. aka, the bunker.
It turns into a constant stale mate in there.

Can someone post some IP's? Or the Qtracker filter for this mod? All the servers I see in the BF2 browser are empty everytime I check.
