although i really like the cockpit view i do expect allot of people to immediately switch to the hud only cam

You know I've always wondered that. Sturmtroop/Stormtroopers? All of Darth Vaders guys are in grey, german like military uniforms. And many other similarities. Cant be a coincidence can it?

All starwars universe is more or less linked with ww2.
By example the weaponery/equipment which is using mg34/mg15,c96 lightly modified,
the film scene, by example during space attack are exactly the same images scenes of ww2 propaganda like the guys turning his head in his cockpit to see his fellow, the stormtroopers going to the "flak".
etc ...
it had to reinforce the "bad-side" feelings perhaps.
Who knows ? star wars was supposed to be an anti-vietnam war but few people know that.
