    Forgotten Hope 2 Mod Update

There is a new update posted today over at the Forgotten Hope 2 mod website. They are back with some new in game shots of a tank and bunker. Take a look:
Let get started with the first item for today--the Vickers Mark VI light tank, shown ingame for the first time. Introduced in 1935, these tanks were designed mainly as reconnaissance vehicles. The Vickers was equipped with twin Vickers machine guns 0.50 and 0.303 inch (12.7 mm-and 7.92 mm) - and was lightly armoured, so it was at major disadvantage against most enemy tanks. Nevertheless, it can provide significant mobile firepower against enemy infantry, making it a useful tool on the FH2 battlefield. The Mark VI B, version of the Vickers was found on most battlefields where British forces saw combat, throughout the early war period This vehicle was modeled and skinned by Montoya and coded by ctz. It bears a camouflage style typical of early war British desert forces.

The second item we have for you this update is a bunker with an attached trench system. In the difficult supply conditions of the desert, this kind of permanent structure represented a large investment of time and materials. The bunker and trench system were modeled and skinned by Lobo.

    <a href="http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img=http://images.totalbf2.com/news/177%20-%20bunker_01.jpg"><img src="http://images.totalbf2.com/news/thumb_177%20-%20bunker_01.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a> <a href="http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img=http://images.totalbf2.com/news/177%20-%20bunker_02.jpg"><img src="http://images.totalbf2.com/news/thumb_177%20-%20bunker_02.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a> <a href="http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img=http://images.totalbf2.com/news/177%20-%20bunker_03.jpg"><img src="http://images.totalbf2.com/news/thumb_177%20-%20bunker_03.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>

Looking good as always. To check out all of the new screenshots, be sure to drop by their site.

Mannn, the continuing quality of FH's dev team is astonishing.

I'd be very surprised if they don't charge for this MOD sometime down the line..... (did I just say that?) :)

Good stuff, cannot wait to try it...soon I hope?

I just hope there are enough WWII-philes to stick it out and play this after 2142 comes out...Playing with all these wonderful toys on Single Player would be a gigantic letdown.

Hehe, great update as always FH! I eagerly await the next update. Your consistency baffles me.

EDIT: Has FH considered the possiblity of an intro movie? Now that they have a commercial animator, wouldn't it be possible to take the models out for a spawn in like a 20-30 second intro? That would the experience all that much better!

            This never gets old, lol.

I do not like modern fantasy type games, at all, never have. I wont be playing much 2142, QW, or any such game. Its like hanging in the kiddie pool IMO. Now Frontlines War from KAOS studios, thats a different story.

Im tired of giving out bigger and better compliments to FH, lol. At this point, your stuff looks to good for the sand and terrain around it. Now thats a friggin compliment.

Your trenches and stattics are sweet as well.

take a look back at all the FH2 updates and you will see a plethora of people just like yourself from around the globe waiting for this mod. Seeing as this will be the only worthy WW2 FPS to be released for A LONG time - somehow i don't think lack of players will be an issue. When was the last time you heard a WW2 FPS fan say he wants to operate a Mech before driving a panzer III? exactly You can now see why this is the least of any of a WW2 mod team's concerns. Thanks for pointing it out though (rofl)

                Duh! :p :p

I think that the 3 main theaters of war in games (WW2, Modern Day, Future) all need to be refreshed every 5 or so years with new titles. All of the new features keep growing with the increase in computer power and programmer experience. In my eyes, FH is the WW2 title that will do this. It may be just a mod, but games like Call of Duty can't touch mods like FH because they focus on the wrong things.

The only thing I'm really, really, really, really, really, really, really hoping that they figure out is how to disable armor without destroying it. That options was SUCH an important tactical element during World War 2 because armor piercing rounds were not as accessible as they are today.

A balance issue commonly arises in World War 2 games because the infantry need to be beefed up to deal with the armor so that infantry have a chance. Now, infantry can use the realistic tools at their disposal to disable heavy armor -- but not render it completely useless (for which you need either some heavy guns or a very tight space as an ambush).

Yeah, I think so, this is the list of most MP played games actually:

                  1. Counter Strike Source
                  2. Wolfenstein Enemy Territory
                  2. Call of Duty
                  3. Call of Duty 2
                  4. Day of Defeat
                  6. Quake III Arena

four WW2 games in the top 6 and the first sci-fi game is the #6, it looks to me the problem is for BF2142, there are enough WW2 fanatics, the WW2 mods for BF2 will have not problems to get players. LOL, with all these comments I already hate BF2142 before is released, no ofence DICE guys

One way to level the battlefield for infantry is to disable the other camera views. By making them "blind" to infantry, this gives the common Tommy, G.I. or Shutze a chance against a buttoned up tank.

As always, nice work FH team!

I enjoy hopping ontop of the various armored vehicles and laying into them with my MG, I know it doesnt do much damage but its funny as hell as the guy inside starts turning around in circles wondering who the hell is shooting at him:laugh::laugh:

I agree! I've been begging for that ever since BF1942. I think aircraft should have the same limitation. One of the biggest disadvantages of being in an aircraft, vehicle or water vessel is that you don't have the luxury of looking around you. For that you need infantry. I never understood why this wasn't done in vanilla BF.

I'd also like to see slower turret speed. That way armor doesn't spin the turret around like crazy.

BTW, I'm not interested nerfing tanks. I think they should be as powerful as they are in real life, but with the same limitations they have in real life.

BF2142 doesn't appeal to me. I'm a ww2 freak, anyway. FH was and still is my favourite game, back in the days of 0.5 for BF1942.
I play FH at least 1 or 2 hours a day, on average. It's addicting. No ww2 fps offers so much.

You forgot to place BF2 on 2nd place or 3rd if you also count in CS:1.6.
The games below CS:S and CS:1.6 have never surpassed BF2 but strangely I watched Qtracker and Gamespy´s stats today and the BF2 player numbers were 1000 or below which cant be even close to the truth, the numbers are usually like 35 000+ on prime time and at the lowest ap. at 10 000 players.
From the release of the game until like 2days ago Ive never seen the numbers go below 10 000 players, something is rotten in the state of Denmark...

                            Anyways, great news update!
                            I can´t wait to be playing FH2.

Lobo your bunkers/trenches look amazing... simply amazing. Very intrested in seeing what you can brew up in the Pacific theatre :) .

Usually I am not a huge fan of the Vickers, but it looks so good that I might have to take it for a spin when FH2 releases :p
