I wanted to give you guys an update on the 100 clan sponsorship. We have all the servers ready to go and the appilcation is almost finished. We are talking with a few of our sponsors to see if they are interested in helping. Please make sure that you have pick a point person for your clan and that you have sent as many of them to these sites to register:

Yeah great idea! You do know that all 100 game servers will probably be on 2-3 boxes...right? MyIS is only doing this because they hope they get lucky with one clan that will go far and get a name, and then they will pretend like they own them to get their name out there...

Actually no. We put a maximum of 128 slots of bf2 on a single server. No more. We've said it before and we'll say it again. We do not put up a game server that we wouldn't want to play on.

Auman - You need to grow up. Why would anyone want to run there name in the mud by giving out laggy servers??


There are a couple reasons why BF2 servers lag. One is the poorly written code by EA, which is not fixable on our part. I see more servers crashing with greater than 48 people in them more than i do less than 48 people. So I try to stay in the 40-48 player range.

But the big one that we do have control over is ping filters. It happens all the time, I will be in a server playing smooth as can be, tehn I will start geting random skips, I hit tab and see 2 or 3 guys with 150 pings. The problem with most servers is that admins have no idea how to set it up. Anytime you have pings over 120 in a server it will start to lag. Then the more people with higher pings the more lag you will get. A ping filter set at about 110 would be perfect, since you will allow the people with 100 pings to fluctuate a bit and not get kicked.

Granted, there are some server companies that try to pack too many servers on one box, but for the most part it is not a hosting problem.

Again I would like an IQ filter, so People with a certain amount of IQ or higher can join. That way we would have some nub-free playing for once.

High pings in a server don't make the server lag, the poorly written code which you all think is poorly written doesn't make the server lag, the server's ability to maintain a standard makes the server lag. And I'm guessing you're not too familiar with MyIS in the first place, so I'll end my posting here.

No, you're wrong, bad code really does cause a performance decrease, with AMP! (BF2 recoded http://www.sys3d.com )I get 20-30 fps higher than with regular BF2. Also, if you don't want a free BF2 server, don't even bother replying, personally, I'm tired of reading all these "bah, I bet these servers will suck" replies.

FPS have nothing to do with the server. FPS have to do with your system performance.

Then explain why your fps droppes when you lag.

There are two types of lag. There is net lag and system lag. Net lag is because of a bad server or because of the server being too far away from your location. System lag is because of your system not being able to handle the program/x-number of players. Just the same reason some people can't play single player, their system can't handle it because of the bots.

To start <3 MYIS

Ping is the ammount of time in milliseconds it takes the server to send a packet of information to your computer. So if your game is running slow cause the server is far away it may seem like lower FPS but it's really not. Bad coding will cause ping and FPS problems. But at the same time so will a crappy computer.

Now a few questions to MYIS:

1. How will you know if people are from the same clan or not?
2. Will they need to register using tags?
3. How long will the sponsorship last? Will it carry over into 2142?
4. What kind of representation are you looking for from clans that are sponsored?

Just some things to think about and some answers would be nice.
