Our past mod of the week, the Battlefield Pirates 2 mod, has posted up a new update today on their site. Here's what they had to say about it all:

Welcome to another update from BF Pirates 2. Today we be showin’ off some new weaponry, modeled by Jimmy the Pirate and Ratkin, and skinned by Tibmaker.

I await Pirates with much anticipation. I want my Komono Dragon mode.

Just one thing, I feel it is in your best interest to hurry up and release this before we all stop playing BF2 and........

Inside joke, sorry. When my clan would have Priates friday night, we would have more fun than anything. Try the two ships map with low gravity, too much fun, OMG.

You know SySEX73, thats a really simplified argument you make there, but you're on the right track. Why don't you list some other reasonable ideas as to why that might be the case?

because there arn't - its a stupid point made by idiots... hence the "inside joke" remark. But that is an offtopic discussion and has NO RIGHT to be here. If you want a discussion on release dates make a thread in the modding section and see what happens. DO NOT bring it up in mod updates.

Out of interest, PiratesCrew, can we expect this to be mainly a sea based affair? or will there be any land engagements i.e objective type mode where one has to secure a treasure on a tropical island... wow... so many possibilities with this whole pirates concept!

Thanks Jimbob...

It will be a good mix of sea and land combat. For the first release we will have 4 ships, as well as a full arsenal of weaponry for land combat as well

Yea, an inside joke that I'm in on, becuase I'm the butt of the joke. I didn't bring it up to begin with, so why don't your type up a foaming at the mouth rant for SySeX73?

You should paint an insulting texture of me, so I can use it as an avatar. After all, it's your texturing skills that empowers you to be king of the forums here. Perhaps something that identifies me as a humble serf of the king jimbob forums. Whatever you do, do it quick, I saw some comments in the Sandbox release thread that will require you to compose a couple more know-it-all rants. Make sure to include lots of those eye rolling smiley faces your so fond of, they really add to your points. Get cracking, I look forward to reading them as much as I look forward to playing FH2 and Pirates 2.

Pirates Team:

I apologize for that, but jimbob insists on making things personal with me becuase he disagrees with my opinions regarding project development and establishing the largest community possible. He paints textures, so he knows better, and therefore must attack and insult those he disagrees with.

Pirates for '42 was a blast, I'm looking forward to 2. The humor in the concept art you guys have been showing is great, the more of that that translates the better. Good luck and thanks.

Sys, and Ahk be a little more patient. Mods take time, and this particular one went through a deep periods of twiddling thumbs before it started turning it's motor again. Hence why none of the larger Total Conversion Mods are released yet... With that being said, this mod HAS announced his release date, and will god damn meet it. All you have to do is wait for less than a month.

And Jimbob, no need to be so damn brutal to people. All the regular players for the game that visit this site and have no clue about how mods run do ask those sort of annoying questions or comments and do create some minor stress within the mod crew. I do wish they would stop, but that's only a dream away.

There have been people giving the same opinion for a long time, you are not alone by any means.

I have total patience, and for a great MOD like Pirates, well there is no rush at all. Desert Combat brought out my competetive edge, but Pirates was always the most fun to play. IF you have never played the first Pirates, with a 32 player server full, then I am sorry.

hehe sorry m8, I totally understand what your saying... this particular person has been cruising round these forums telling mods "release or no one will play your mod..." and spewing general pessimism over release dates - didn't want to see him do it to yet another thread. He does know the score (lord knows he's had enough people tell him - Sys wasn't asking about release - I'm sure he was jokingly referring to exactly these kind of "opinions" we have to deal with each update).

UH60 - don't stick your nose into this - Its that sort of behaviour that got you in trouble with other mods. The very kind that assures me i shall not be working with you It also contributes to the angst and "off-topicness" of this discussion.

I invite everyone to read my short post history. The only negative comment I've made was "Does it have bots.." and I did that simply to agitate king of the fourms jimbob, after he was so nice to me. I regret making that particular comment.

I know, I'm such jerk for wanting to see king jimbob's mod and others have a big, successful community. The problem is jimbob disagrees with my opinion on how to nurture a successful community. That in itself is ok, reasonable people can agree to disagree. The trouble started when I presented my opinion and the reasoing behind it. King of the fourms jimbob (not taking the advice he issued to UH60 below) crafted a thoughful, carefully worded response as his first post directed to me. Here is a snip:

GROW UP. If there is anything more pathetic than the absolute nonsense you have posted it is the fact that you sit there and actually think your opinion is valid when you have ZERO, ZIP, NADA experience in this industry. Its way past your bedtime - let the big boys get back to work...

Nice to meet you too jimbob. With people skills like that, it is amazing you haven't been promoted beyond king of the message board.

Again, I invite you to read the threads, I never started the course of discussion. I simply participated in an ongoing discussion. jimbob however, wants to control the discussion, and there can be no other opionion than his own. Thats why he is king of the forums. Hail to the king.
