    US Intervention Mod Update

The US Intervention mod team is back today showing off some new in game screenshots. Here's what they had to say about it all:
USI is back with another update, but first we would like to announce some open positions available of the team. We're looking for Texture Artists, Coders, Level Designers, and we have started recruiting testers again. Simply go to our site and apply. For testers, please start a new thread with 'tester' as the topic, and the new lead tester will respond. Now off to our update.

First we have the ZPU-4, modeled by silence14, skinned by Petemonster and coded by Jarlief.

    <a href="http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img=http://images.totalbf2.com/news/USI_zpu-4_1.jpg"><img src="http://images.totalbf2.com/news/thumb_USI_zpu-4_1.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a> <a href="http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img=http://images.totalbf2.com/news/USI_zpu-4_2.jpg"><img src="http://images.totalbf2.com/news/thumb_USI_zpu-4_2.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a> <a href="http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img=http://images.totalbf2.com/news/USI_zpu-4_3.jpg"><img src="http://images.totalbf2.com/news/thumb_USI_zpu-4_3.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>
Second we have a new smoke marker, coded by Jarlief. These are deployable like any other smoke grenade and can be locked onto by bombers and helos, to help clear out enemy bases to get your team's equipment to spawn as we will be adding team lock on all planes, helos, and main battle tanks, but don't worry, still plenty to play with.

    <a href="http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img=http://images.totalbf2.com/news/USI_smoke.jpg"><img src="http://images.totalbf2.com/news/thumb_USI_smoke.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>
And finally, a new map, Operation Market Square, created by the talented EoD Junglist over at Eve of Destruction. This map has been under testing and is definately USI approved!

    <a href="http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img=http://images.totalbf2.com/news/USI_OMS_01.jpg"><img src="http://images.totalbf2.com/news/thumb_USI_OMS_01.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a> <a href="http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img=http://images.totalbf2.com/news/USI_OMS_02.jpg"><img src="http://images.totalbf2.com/news/thumb_USI_OMS_02.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a> <a href="http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img=http://images.totalbf2.com/news/USI_OMS_11.jpg"><img src="http://images.totalbf2.com/news/thumb_USI_OMS_11.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>
    <a href="http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img=http://images.totalbf2.com/news/USI_OMS_17.jpg"><img src="http://images.totalbf2.com/news/thumb_USI_OMS_17.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a> <a href="http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img=http://images.totalbf2.com/news/USI_OMS_mm.jpg"><img src="http://images.totalbf2.com/news/thumb_USI_OMS_mm.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>

A very impressive update, and I'm really liking that map. Be sure to stop by their site for more.

    Re: US Intervention Mod Update

Woo for more direct, non-guided AA weapons. Would it be at all possible to implement a way to move semi-stationary weapons like that ZPU-44? I'm thinking of something along the lines of the way bf1918 (or tgw, can't remember which) implemented it in bf1942. It'd mean that airplane/helicopter pilots wouldn't be able to memorize the exact location of opposing AA.

To those not in the know, what i mean is to have two positions on the semi-stationary weapon, mutually locked (ie, two positions, but only one person possible crewing the weapon), one as a gunner, and one to literally push the weapon along. Or you could do what FH did with some of their German Flak guns mounted on trucks, or towed behind trucks. I know it's not a huge issue, but it would certainly make the game that much more enjoyable for direct fire AA fanatics such as myself.

Pretty cool idea makes it harder for jet pilots they always have the advantage over AA

                Re: US Intervention Mod Update

Reason is that even with the hotfix for 1.3 it always Crashes To Desktop (yes i know in Bf2 it sometimes does it, but in USI w/hotfix it always does it)

Well for me it did...i don't blame them, i blame 1.3.

                    Re: US Intervention Mod Update

USI runs rock solid for me, no crashing whatsoever. Unfortuately, I too have a hard time finding a good, large game. I find that USI needs atleast 10 players a team to make things interesting. Anything less and then most of the players on the server are in aircraft, that makes a lousy match.

I pimp USI on the other game sites I frequent, but more often then not it's dismissed because at it's core, it's still BF2. You can make an awsome mod, but if the core game is plauged with minor problems and derided for it thats a tought stigma to get people to overlook.

Blame your terrain settings - they need to be set to medium. :p
Also make sure the server has the hotfix too.

It was set to medium, i checked the "same mod" box in the server filters but It just kept on crashing.

I hope that when 1.4 is released you can release a full USI client (not a 1.4 hotfix for USI v.1, but a full BF2 1.4 USI client, if you get me) for 1.4, so all we need to do is patch bf2 to 1.4, then install USI and done, Go on to continue raping with the Ground Attack Planes.

Or how about a full 1.3 USI client, without the need to download the 1.22 client, then hotfix it? Maybe things will be more stable (like how using the full 1.3 patch is better than the incremental)

I just want to fly those ground attack planes:banana:
