Wander what are we gonna have to do if the U.S. Government bans BF2, in case that happens.

        Now you guys aren't listening.

No matter who made it and where it comes from and how it was originally intended, it was found on insurgent websites and that video is being used as propoganda by the terrorists. That doesn't mean the guy that made the movie is bad or that BF2 itself is bad. They're not saying everyone who plays vanilla BF2 is a terrorist.

We gotta remember that these simple-minded terrorist recruits can get fired up to kill us by anything, even a harmless video game. They get spoon fed anti-US sentiment every day of their lives since they're born. Their psycho leaders use anything they can to enlist suicide soldiers. So if they can use a video game for their purposes they will.

          Haha...

Looks like a normal frag movie with a little music to me. The "Allah Akhbar" yells in the movie seems like humor.

Re: BF2: A Game For Terrorist Training?

Was an elite congressional intelligence committee shown video footage from an off-the-shelf retail game and told by the Pentagon and a highly-paid defense contractor that it was a jihadist creation designed to recruit and indoctrinate terrorists? It's looking more and more like that is the case.…

I think you're missing the point behind seatbelt and cellphone safety laws. It's not about whether you're intelligent enough to handle doing two things at once or whether it's your life that you're risking. Other people have to deal with the concequences, that statistically DO happen, when these precautions aren't taken.

Know why most states want motorcyclists to wear helmets? Do you really think the state's worried about their wellfare? No. It's just that brains are really hard to wash out of asphalt.

Seriously though (I was joking), these things are catalysts. If you see a driver holding a cellphone to their head, that means they're driving with one hand. It's physically impossible to have complete control over your vehicle with just one hand. Does that mean everyone drives with two hands all the time when they're not on their cell phones? Of course not. And of course people talk to each other when they're in a car. But it's a visual alert to the police that you aren't in complete control over your vehicle, and it's proof.

Driving tired is illegal too. So is driving angry (aggressive driving usually occurs). It's not about taking rights away. It's just the general check and balance system of living in a society. It's not going away. Deal with it.

That said, I generally drive with one hand on the bottom part of the steering wheel, and I zone out quite often. I'm not a safe driver, so I'm not being elitist here. Also, I talk on my cellphone while I drive. It's just that I turn the speakerphone function on and lay it in my lap.

The government has been trying to regulate videogames for many many years. They already regulate the movie and music industry, as well as radio and television. And videogames are already regulated as well. But as long as our elected officials enjoy the pleasures of alcohol, tobacco, and strip clubs themselves, we can be sure that we, as regular blue collar folk, can enjoy the same carnal pleasures.

Frag away. It's your American Right (TM).

I have noticed ALOT of posts blaming ABC.

Actually I believe ABC news was pointing out how ridiculous the accussation --BF2 a terrorist trainer-- is. It is the private contractors working for the pentagon that have made the claims.

As for people using BF2 to get their jolies killing Americans and Allies. Let them. Those are the ones that wont do it in the world.

If I recall the actual recruits come from poverty stricken areas with little to no educational opportunities.

What insurgent websites? I mean if someone provides me with some proof, i'll be willing to give these monkeys congress hired a little benefit of the doubt, but i REALLY doubt the honest-to-god terrorists/insurgents/whatever the hell you want to call our hyped-up enemy of the minute, give a flying damn about some dutch guy's bf2 compilation video, set to the inspiring commentary of Team America: World Police. I mean come on, the video, if anything, is as mocking of insurgents as it is of Americans.

And to everyone ragging on the media, watch it again. For once, they actually did a fairly balanced look at a video game issue. I was surprised. And even if they had got it completely wrong, the real shocker is that top taxpayer dollar went to fund the kind of research that leads to them discovering a bf2 fan vid. THATS whats un-flipping-beleivable.

I figure I'd post my letter to my congressman, for what it's worth:

                                Dear Sir,

Recently I've heard on ABC news about a report presented to the house intelligence committee on the videogame Battlefield 2. The utter ignorance exposed in this report is nothing short of jaw-dropping. First off, the "experts" claim that an add-on was needed to play as insurgent forces to kill Americans. This is not true. No matter what the experts tell you. You can easily click the "MEC" tab and fight for a fictitious "Middle-East Coalition" along with up to 31 other players (human beings) against up to 32 other players fighting for the USMC (United States Marine Corps, in case the experts didn't tell you). If the $7 million dollar group spent even 30 seconds reading the game's box, they would have understood this. Secondly, google internet search by a 5th grader could easily have proven that the opening sequence of the "terrorist recruiting game" was stolen from the satirical film "Team America: World Police". Additionally, the $7 million team that issued the report does not seem to be able to comprehend the difference between someone making a movie of a video game and an actual videogame. Moreover, the film itself was of terrible quality. The audio was poor, the action dull, and the editing sub-par. The only real motivation the movie fosters is to hit the stop button. That's this expert's psychological evaluation of it. Since congress is getting in the habit of taking totally unqualified people's analysis, I figured I'd give mine.

As an avid computer gamer, who regularly plays Battlefield 2, I find the spectacle of hyper-ventilating bureaucrats inflating a leisure-time videogame into a terrorist threat hilarious. Yet, as a citizen, I find the unforgivable incompetence of the people tasked with defending me terrifying. The pentagon and their private contractors are not only wasting $7 million in our tax dollars but doing great damage to national security by diverting attention from real threats.

It is obvious from their report that this $7 million group has no idea what the hell they are talking about, to put it kindly. For the good of the country, all the "experts" should be fired immediately or pointed in a direction where they may actually have some experience. Perhaps they should be in charge of fertilizer subsidies, because they already have shown their proficiency with ********.

                                With great concern,
                                Nathan Freeman
