    Re: Community Update - 6/2/06

It seems they post a message like this after every patch they release. At some point, you would think they would properly test a patch before releasing it, but I guess that is too much to ask. . .

Don't get me wrong, I'd rather them acknowlege they made a mistake than just keep silent, but this is getting rediculous. I've about had it.

You think the guy talking about patriotic buyers is ridiculous, but I wouldn't doubt what he says in some form.

Example 1-I'm a DEV for USI so I play alot and which plane do you think I see more TK's for the A10 or the SU25? They have the almost exact same characteristics, only the SU25 carries about 3 times as many rockets. The A10 has about 3X as many TK's on the runway; even trade, no.

Example 2- How often do you see the US team way overful with players in any mod or even vanilla. Is US stuff any better? Not really, yet servers with lots of US players tend to get lots of teamswitchers to the US.

Example 3- Look at other games, how many other games are there where the US isn't the feature army. Look at CoD2, which missions come last? Which missions are the most graphically impressive? Now try to think of a real war game which didn't feature the US Army at all and was successful, I doubt you can.

In other words, America sells copies.

That's not a patriot, that's just someone who likes US armed forces.

I mean, c'mon. I'm an American. I think I have a good grasp on what a real partiot is in my country.

Though refering to your last example, I thought Red Orchestra was doing pretty well. Heh.

Well EA need to do the following to ensure that people feel the issues are being addressed and that progress is being made :-
              1. Create and support a master list of known issues as submitted by BF2 users. This includes maintaining a status (eg Issue is reproducable and will be resolved / Issue not reproducable in EA labs / More info required)
              2. Make some official polls available so BF2 users can vote on which features should be included / removed (eg Squad hopping / Vehicle Drops)
              3. State clearly any changes in policy (eg MODS will/wont be supported in the game, Global Unlocks will /wont be supported on unranked servers)
              4. Maintain a visible development progress schedule detailing what they have fixed so far, what is left to be fixed, and a running estimated release date for the patch the patch patch

OK, Red Orchestra is somewhat a special circumstance b/c it won a competition to get its licensing and such, it did not come out of corporate. Plus Red Orchestra sells at 20-30 dollars, many games that are terrible but feature the US armed forces sell just as much at 50 bucks.

I don't like the "direction of Battlefied" comment. BF2 doesn't need any more direction. Just take some time and perfect the game, iron out the bugs and then leave it alone. Battlefield 2 is a great game and shouldn't suffer while you test schemes for 2142 and the future of the series.

Man USI mod was rockin`da house. We were full morning tnight on the "Celebrity Deathmatch Arena" server. EA/Dice had to rush out 1.3 patch to put a stop to that. Long live Basra Streets

There are a lot of very good testers at EA, its not fair to blame them for everything as many areas have a part to play in the end result.
how did they miss so many obvious problems then?

So, rumor has it that they are looking for some new programmers? Where do we send our resume?

If I was EA/DICE I would had immediately reinstated 1.22 as valid ranked servers. Usually there's a week grace period after a patch, but this time there wasn't.

3 server crashes in the last hour...ghey ghey ghey.

The teams here at DICE and at EA want to take a moment to acknowledge that we are aware of the issues that some are experiencing with the latest release.

Someone said you lot were whining more than usual so we've decided to think about doing something.

We are continuing our work to review and find potential solutions to the problems affecting many players and server admins. We are also reviewing recent changes to servers and gameplay.

The one bloke who did the 1.3 patch has been shouted at and told to sort it out. We don't have the faintest idea what he did to bugger it so much.

While we continue our work internally we want to remind everyone to keep using the EA forums to provide feedback. We review the comments in these and other forums regularly while we consider the direction of Battlefield.

As you know we couldn't give monkeys about Bf2 now but we do listen in case we can use something in BF2142.

We also want to assure to the mod community that we understand the difficulties you have worked through and we are continuing to look for ways to help everyone and find ways to promote all of the mods and their hard working teams.

Haha when we made our own mod (BF2142) we thought we'd better make life differcult for modders, besides they don't pay nothing and don't charge nothing. If one of them is really good we'll buy it, wreck it, you know the routine.

As always keep your eyes to this space for all the latest Battlefield News.

                            Our bland communication may continue.
