• Operation Peacekeeper Mod Update

There is a new update posted today over at the Operation Peacekeeper mod website. After a successful first release, they are back working on the next. Here's what they had to say:
Well, the first version of Operation Peacekeeper was recently published. Many of you tested our first Bf2 - version and expressed criticism, gave us feedback as well as positive statements. We really appreciate it. Thanks a lot. As stagnation is equal to a step backward, we are continuing our work giving you the latest updates for our next version of OPK. Today we'll have a closer look at the map "Airfield Assault". You already might know the map from former news. The map itself was developed and still is continued by Osis with the help of Meister Z (statics), Starforce (statics), Kampfwiesel (statics), Ivan (statics), Joe (statics) and DaWallace (sounds). Some preview pictures:

Our mapper Gladi is planning his fourth strike. After maps like "Fearless" or "Train" for the Battlefield Vietnam version and "Battle of Tutin" for the Bf2 version, a new virtual battlefield will be added giving you the chance to proof your skills. This time it's about a sleepy little town called Bogoniva situated in the Kosovo. It would be the perfect place for having a little picnic. It's just too bad that there are heavily armed forces around who are trying to capture and secure this area. Oh well, you can't have everything in life. As already mentioned, the map was created by Gladi with the assistance of our team members Meister Z (statics), Busch (statics), Kampfwiesel (statics), Ivan (statics) and DaWallace (sounds).

Nice to see the guys already working hard on their next release. Be sure to swing by their site to read the entire update.

Re: Operation Peacekeeper Mod Update

I see theres some more painting done at the new maps (Bogoniva), which is nice
Great when a leveldesigner pays attention to details. The roads in the base looks good with tracks and gravel on the outside of it. Seeing forward to try it out.

I also apriciate the variety of grass on the pic on the left, so that all is not just filled with grass in a hurry just to finish it. It looks like theres more thought behind it now then on one of the maps i tried before.

I do agree the maps so far are the coolest part of the mod. The Level of detail rocks. I love the little details maps have to offer, I just wish there were more excellent mappers these days. There are very few willing to add all the details and plan out maps before hand. Would be great to see more maps like these.

Re: Operation Peacekeeper Mod Update

The maps are what will set OPK ahead of others, I'm really glad to see such push towards good and balanced maps. I still think the helicopters needs a little tweaking (4 barrel rolls in less than 7secs; about 100meters above ground, if that )

I wanted to mention on a couple released maps, by the hillsides, there are alot of clipping issues; getting stuck in between 4rocks by the bridge point. The bridge is off a bit, you can see and shoot under it because it isn't level with the ground. Some trees, you can prone and hide under them!

Good stuff guys.

PEACE

here is what I found wrong with your first mod (I know this is a little late)

-All cockpit views are horrible (especially the F-4)
-Some SE trucks have more spots than the GE trucks
-The RIB has a US M-24 SAW for its forward turret
-No bombs!?!? The Vietnam War was all about napalm and carpet bombing
-Some trucks have the word "Hummer" on them??
-The runway on the second map is not long enough
-The Hind-D is an attack and transport (look at USI's) You should put more spots in the back and one especially in the doorway

-I did enjoy all the new weapons and am still checking them all out

-I will post more when I think of it

Re: Operation Peacekeeper Mod Update

thx. We know that there are some problems, and we hope that we can fix the most of them. Some are caused by the overgrowthrenderer.

The helicoptersteering will be optimized.

Plz post some screens of the flying Yedi-rock. would be helpful.

Yes, all these Cockpits are noch highpolycockpits. It´s a lot of work, so we deside that there are more important things, most of the guys flying with nosecam...

-No bombs!?!? The Vietnam War was all about napalm and carpet bombing

We start with fighter, yes. F4 is no longer in service in the german army as bomber. Tornado and ORAO ( serbia) will do the job as bomber...

-The Hind-D is an attack and transport (look at USI's) You should put more spots in the back and one especially in the doorway

There will be some fixes and tweaks.

-Some trucks have the word "Hummer" on them??
yes, because this is not the military HMMVEE, this are civilian H1. Armed and stronger. Serbia bought some "Hummer" no military HMMVEE.... www.hummer.com, i could show you a picture of a red(!) hummer with special police. In service, without changes.

-The runway on the second map is not long enough

German Base? long enought that most of the guys start an F4. But atm im not confindent with the situation too.

-I did enjoy all the new weapons and am still checking them all out

Thx, thas really great, something that we doing right, nice to hear.

-Some SE trucks have more spots than the GE trucks

Ähm, different trucks --> different spots? But we will tweak a lot. It´s our first demo (yes we call it DEMO to test some things).

Thank you for your feedback.

Re: Operation Peacekeeper Mod Update

These are the nicest looking maps for any of the mods out. AND NO DESERT TO BE SEEN! Im sick of getting sand in my pants.

Airport looks very realistic and things look like they should be there. Love the fields too.

Keep up the good work. Looks amazing hope it runs as good as it looks.
