    new perspective on Anti Aircraft

    this post is to EA/dice:
the planes situiation is still completely wrong, you have taken the planes from being way overpowered to being way too vulnerable. i was sat on the AA today and kept locking up the enemy coming overhead, (if i didnt kill them, a friendly plane did, because their flares took so long to redeploy), and the guy was flaming me and getting pi$$ed off at the game

in Bf1942, the ground AA was very effective (which could easily stop planes from camping a certain spot), but the only way another plane could kill you was with cannons (which made for some very good amd skillful dogfighting), in BF2 winner is the plane who spots the other first, which has nothing to do with skill and is complete rubbish

i dont mind now, cause im an ex-pilot (due to the last few patches) but surely EA/Dice realise that they have taken planes from being way overpowered to being useless (useless providing the other team mans their AA)

sorry if there is bad grammar, im drunk

No, dogfighting is still very real and still very skillful (unless of course your up against the J-10 in an F35-B, then your just ****ed.

I don't mean to hijack your thread man but I do have a question for you. I've been thinking about buying BF1942 for the dogfighting in WWII planes. Would it be worth it to me?

BF1942 dogfighting was a fantastic experience, the most skillful player would win (not so much dependency on the plane you were using, or the people sat waiting on ground AA) and you had to be much more accurate with the bombs.

the last time i played was before BF2 was released, and there were only 3 official EAUK 64 player servers, so i wouldnt think there were many players nowadays, and i doubt its worth buying (could be wrong though)

back to the original point: yes, dogfighting does still exist, but its very limited, i would challange anyone to get away from me once i have locked them, all i have to do is follow the plane and dont fire my missiles, he will wait for a second or 2 (till he thinks you have unleashed youe missiles) then take him out - i also like to follow a plane for a few minutes and constantly lock him up (which is easy in a J10) they usually end up stacking it into the ground themselves.

my main point again is this:- leave the ground mounted AA as it is, but decrease the effectiveness of aircraft air to air missiles

i wouldn't mind if they let jets turn more for the sake of dogfighting

"I'm a box/triangle! Shoot me for free points!" That's all AA sites are right now, unless you're playing Tabara where the UCB stingers are actually in sane spots. If you don't want to just KILL IT, you don't even have to dump flares, you just have to fly low so one of the many conveniently-placed trees/radar towers breaks lock.

bah, evading missiles in a jet is quite easy... just do a few loopings and theyre off track. yes, it makse you lose some time, but heh. at least you dont die.

i rarely get shot down by AA when i'm in a jet, i don't see how its really possible to die from it unless you are stupid and fly right at it

SAM Missels are fine, one thing that I think they should do to make them not visable, then they would be affective for sure, and plane pilots would have to be much more careful. But A2A is a whole nother subject, which needs to be fixed badly.

no, its a ghost town, and the best maps are battle of britain, which would be almost impossible to find an active server with.

wait for FH2 for BF2, that will do all you wish. hope to meet you in some BF 109 versus Hurricane action over Malta sometime soon in FH2!

Re: new perspective on Anti Aircraft

i agree that ground AA is fine, its the Air to Air missiles that have ruined skillful dogfighting - my point about the ground AA was this: i was sitting on the AA locking up a plane that was dogfighting one of ours (i didnt even fire on him) in the heat of battle, he had no way of knowing where the lock was from and it was easy for our plane to take him out (once he'd used his flares and afterburners) this happened lots of times and the guy got really angry (i feel his pain)

come on Dice/EA - sort out the huge mistake you have made and bring skill back to dogfighting
