I'm currently using the 8.4.2.5. I was wondering what other people preferd for this card. I'm also having issues with the game it keeps crashing to black, crazy game sounds, sob sob. I need help and I fear this card is wack. I never had problems with my 6800GT. I have a fresh install of windows XP PRO, fresh reinstall of BF2 & 1.22 full patch, and I think my PB version is 164398. Is that up to date? PB setup will not install. It stops at EULA. Says EULA is corrupt try again. Can someone please Help

Re: 7800GS & PB Help
I heard that if it crashes to black that is is a Direct x problem, so I would personally just update direct x from the microsoft.com (that is the february one, NOT the developer one posted here the other day, the CONSUMER one).
other than that is could be a number of things. I doubt your card is faulty though, try playing other games with it...how does it run? -
Re: 7800GS & PB Help
i have a 7800GS playing just fine, in fact, for the first time i am able to play as long as a i want, no problems at all. i used to have a old motherboard and a 6600GT got new mainboard, cpu, and the 7800GS and now its perfect. playing all medium settings at 1280*960 with 2X AA. looks nice.
(why did i get a new mainboard and 7800GS and not go for PCI express? because I got the card first but had problems with my old board, instead of return card i just went to local computer store got new mainboard and cpu i did not feel like waiting for things to be returned and shipped)Comment

Re: 7800GS & PB Help
filthy it is most likely your card. I have an eVGA 7800GS OC Superclocked and ran into the exact same issue with my first card. RMA'd it with eVGA and the replacement runs at over SC speeds (490/1410) with no problems. The first card ran FEAR, COD2, Battlefront II and other games flawlessly, it was just BF2 that had the issue.
Check this thread on eVGA's website for more info with the exact problem you described - http://www.evga.com/community/messag...TOPIC_ID=11725
You shouldn't have to settle for underclocked speeds when you paid for manufacturer overclocked ones.Comment

Re: 7800GS & PB Help
Thanks for the reply. Just so you know I'm not running underclocked. I just turned it down. I use coolbits 2.0 I was running 509/1.50 now its at 451/1.40. Stock for my BFG card is 400/1.25 I'm not sure if 509/1.50 was pushing it a bit to much. 451/1.40 is still a nice oc.Originally posted by Chet Spartanfilthy it is most likely your card. Re: 7800GS & PB Help
Yea I have that card and it's a piece, on my second RMA for the same problem. An alternate method to get it to work is use the New NGO drivers, they have fixed the black screen, looping sound problem for many, but it's just a temp fix to hold you over for a cross ship RMA, don't settle for a whack card. There are alot of whack 7800 gs's out there.Originally posted by filthyscumbagThanks for the reply. Just so you know I'm not running underclocked. I just turned it down. One thing strange I have noticed though is that my old 9800 pro could run with all on high no problem but the 7800 can get into some serious lagging in bf2, but in other games like HF2 I can go 1600x1200 AAx4 AFx16 HDR and all high no problem. Strange.Comment
