Infantry Only Maps

Firstly, anyone who wants to start trolling or flaming, close this thread now!

There is currently a poll running over at BF2RS website asking whether the ranked server ROE should be changed to allow server admins to set a 'No Armour' rule....

We all know how annoying it is having armour whores sitting over spawn points waiting for easy kills, and how we've all been in games where a armour has completely destroyed an otherwise excellent infantry battle.

Please remember, if you are a tanker, and disagree with this, there would still be plenty of other servers where you could 'tank' away to your hearts content. But those of us who like the aspects of BF2 that involve teamwork, and a good old infantry battle dont currently have the choice.

You will have to register to vote, but it only takes a minute and if you feel it would enhance the game having the OPTION to run infantry only servers, surely its worth voting?

Don't think so, If they want Infantry only, and I mean no tanks or cars, Dice should make a map, basically it will be very hard for some people to abide by the rules and just a bit of a pain in the ass for the admins, having to kick people constantly because someone joins in and they think ZOMGnoob!11tank!! blow noobz!111.

I say they should encourage Dice to at least release and urban map with no vehicles or no tanks or apc's. Thats the best way to do such a thing.

But we all know how unlikely that is now dont we? I agree, that would be the best course of action. We would get a new map(s) and the loss of armour rolled into one.

We're not talking about getting rid of armour all together, just allowing server admins to enforce a rule to stop people using it.

Im a server admin myself (over at www.50klicks.com), and as much of a pain it would be to enforce, i for one would be willing to take it on if it provided better gameplay for our members and Joe public alike which i think it would.

I wouldnt mind a infantry only map. would be nice. i think the only means of transport would be a gunless humvee and a Vodnic.

yah, I was playing an infantry only map last night. Usually after 10-15mins, people don't follow the rules, so it no longer is a infantry only server

Infantry only maps are some of the funnest. I do agree that usually there is one tard who ruins it for the rest of us. The guy above me is right though. If dice makes it then they are going to charge more money for it.

i am sorry, but you cant make the rules for ranked games! i like infantry combat too, but play a mod, thats what theyre for!

if youre playing for fun, than rankings shouldnt matter, so just play australian forces or whatever.

but you had better not complain in some fruity little internet cult server when i get in a tank and pwn your infantry asses. im not a tank whore, but if a tank is sitting there, then im taking it regardless of any nerd admin preferences.

mashtuur city without tanks would be sweet though, just vodniks and helicopters... and some people are even whining about vodnik guns, when you can just shoot the gunner? pathetic!

I dont really care if you think you are uberpwnage with the tank, why should people who love infantry be shunned to one side to favour those who only use vehicles to gain points against infantry. From that poll it is obvious that a lot of people want infantry only maps, why not give this too them?

Some people will moan that the stats will be skewed, erm, so what! They are screwed up soo much atm that it doesnt make a difference. It will just mean that infantry guys will have a chance at getting a top spot and some gold medals, instead of jet/tankwhore35.

We have 3 ranked servers and an unranked which runs PRMM and will run DCON when its released (i imagine) but the fact is, and as much as it pains me to say it, most ppl play for the stats, to be better than others and running unranked servers simply doesnt 'pull in the punters' compared to ranked servers.

As always, someone comes along and brings out the insults. Its hardly nerd admin preferences now is it. We have nearly 1000 members, and our members donate over £2500 a year between them to keep our servers running. We have a poll running, and 93% of those members want server owners to be given the OPTION of running infantry only servers. We have 14 server admins who all either work or study and give up their game time to admin our servers for both the good of our members and joe public and to be frank, im sure it wouldnt make a huge difference in their lifes booting someone, like you, who would disregard the rule (if we were allowed to have it)

Yeah, imagine most urban maps with an option of switching to armor or extra vehicles.
Like on Karkand, use the 32 man for example, be able to trade the tank and apc for a buggy, jeep, hummer etc..even incorperate new stuff like the SF atv.
If you take all vehicles off a map you affect AT and engies alot.
But the making use transport only opens them up to all infantry including AT/engies.
You still have an attack advantage and safety form armor but can be destroyed easier

Personally. Infantry maps would be ludricrous fun.

Imagine, you could acctually get a firefight going without getting bombed to bits, or a tank appearing in a back alley to whore you all.
