Using FRAPS

When I run Fraps... there is a big lag.... theres like a 1-2 sec. lag between what I do in real time (like joystick movements) vs. what is happening in the game.


I run everything in the game on high, and I was running fraps on default settings.

My setup:

AMD Athlon 64 3400+ (2.41GHz)
1 Gig RAM
ATI Radeon X800 Pro


What should I do..?

Lower your game settings or get alot better hardware

I run amd 3700+ sandieago clocked at 240x11
2 gigs corsair 2,3,3,6
Ati X800 XTPE
2x 80gb Sata RAID 0

I play on medium settings at 1280 x 1024 and average 90 - 100 fps with all dynamic lights and shadows off

When I run fraps I get 50 - 60 FPS at best its just the way it is unfortunatley FRAPS drains alot of system resources.

What about the lag? Thats the thing im more concerned about.

Its not lag as in internet connection, its just that fraps is using a large portion of your system when it is running, meaning BF2 has less.

No no no... when I say lag, I don't mean internet connection lag.


I'm talking about lag between the joystick and the actual aircraft when FRAPS is enabled.

What your experiencing is what some people refer to as video lag.. due to low system resources when fraps is running

it seems you already know the solution to the problem... i know its crap dropping from high to medium or low even... i hated it at 1st becuase the game looks so much better on high.

However on low you can see every guy on the ground much easier when flying as long as you leave geometry on high.

It has its pro's and con's

So I just keep geometry and scale all the way up? Everything else low you think?

If you want switch Fraps to half-size in the video tab. That lowers the lag issue by a good chunk.

You can keep your high setting, however, you have a video that's noticably smaller.

FRAPS doesn't use lots of system recources at all, and won't cause something like this , unless you are recording video tehn FRAPS starts taking memory to use it as a buffer and some extra CPU power (not so much) , your problem will be solved If you just put 2Gb of ram or just don't record video .

omg dude do u understand how to oc memory? i understand how speeding up your fsb will cause evrything to overclock but what i dont understand is how the hell the 4 numbers for memory speed work. oh and play around with settings on fraps. try lowering the resolution or fps or your in game video settings.
