Airplanes Impossible To Fly?

I don't mean for this to sound like a whiney thread, so if it does, I appologize.

But today I updated to the 1.21 or whatever the lastest patch is. This is my first patch, I have been playing the original version of the game since I liked one particular server. While playing the unpatched version, I loved flying airplanes, which I considered myself to be an above average pilot. I could easily own the n00bs who didn't know how to fly, I know basic things like having reverse view on the HAT of my joystick and check it often, and when I came up against veteran pilots, I could every now and then shoot them down, or more often than not, they'd chase me for a good while before they'd kill me. So I considered myself a decent pilot.

But today I upgraded to 1.21 because I wanted to unlock the L96. I got onto a server playing Dalian and used the F35 the whole game. The whole time, I would constantly get shot down in a matter of seconds. I mean, no sort of evading would help my situation at all. A J10 would get behind me and as soon as I heard the missle lock I was pretty much dead. I would dump my flares and that would buy me a few more seconds, but for the most part I couldn't get away. I would try to keep checking for enemy planes in my rear veiw, but by the time I saw them it was always too late.

I guess my question is, what did they change about the airplanes from the unpatched version to this version, and what the h3ll am I doing wrong?

it's not the planes who have changed (or only a bit nerf on the armor), but it are the AA misiles who have changed, they have become effective

well if your were playing straight basic vanilla BF2 (no patches)
then the reason you were so good was cuz all people who love piloting have already upgraded to 1.2 and beyond you were (im guessing here) mostly playing against Corporals and below, like people who just got the game?

Ever since 1.21 it has been impossible to fly, you will hit the ground head on every 5 minutes thanks to the great mass of "Warning: Connection Problems"

pulling hard shouldnt evade a missile, because that removes the skill element. what you need to do is not let the enemy on your tail get a lock while aimed at you.

I would dump my flares and that would buy me a few more seconds, but for the most part I couldn't get away.
flares are busted, missiles fly right past um most of the time

well, in the jsf if you stay high, you can make enemy jets stall by slowing down and pulling up.


the problem here isnt jet handling, its that missiles dont hit j10s that are headed right for it and ofcource that flares are broken.

you're still behind. The current patch is 1.22.

And I hope you weren't playing on a ranked server (until you updated), as that is just stupid. And your stats shouldn't count. As that version of the game was a long time ago.

Circumstances? Of not being able to fly your "airplane"?.

Fly jets like everyone else man, maybe you can actually adapt and survive without whining to anyone.

Airplanes now require skill to evade missles. The J-10 has a manouver that can dodge almost anything, and the other planes are simply disadvantaged.

I am training to fly for the RCAF in real life (see underlying signature), and I know for a fact, flares WILL advert a standard AIM-91 SideWinder missle.

The J-10 in the game, has been stacked, and for some reason, the hitbox on all other planes have an extremely larger area. The J-10's hitbox seems to actually hug the frame of the plane, while the hitbox for the F-35b is about 10 feet BEHIND the jet itself.

It is a major problem that I doubt will be addressed anytime soon, if at all.

Yes, the patches have made some changes in the game. F15 is a flying coffin. J-10 rules. You WILL die if you fly an F15 - though, now you gotto learn new ways of flying the F15's and it will reduce your chances of dying, thought you will still die... lol :P
