L96 vs M95

If there are other threads like this, I apologize. I did a search and came up with nothing.

I am nearing my next set of unlocks, and one of the weapons I am considering is the L96. However, I don't really see why it is any better than the M95. It is more accurate when zoomed, but I don't tend to miss with the M95 anyways due to the deviation; if I miss, it's human error. And the M95, I believe, is the only one that can shoot an enemy cockpit.

Any input on why the L96 would be useful (other than the sweet sound it makes)?

If you like the m95 over the m24, you will prefer the m95 over the l96.

I am also coming up on a promotion, but what do you mean by "Set" of unlocks? Are you going to be able to unlock more than one weapon?

I have 2 unlocks left, the upgrade to the Support Kit and the upgrade to the Sniper Kit. (Forgive me, I don't know the weapon names/numbers). Which of these two are the better upgrade i.e., the biggest/most improvement.

I don't have my sniper badge yet, because it's hard for me to kill enemies with the basic sniper rifle. If I had a better sniper rifle, I'd probably play that kit more often.

Ok here is a list of pros and cons for each.

M95
Pros:
-Does 95 dmg to anyone even with armour.
-Can shoot thru cockpit glass.
-Damages helis.
Cons:
-Less accurate then L96 or M24, espcially when standing.
-When shooting at a cockpit, bullet is not as accurate i think.
-Has REALLY thick crosshairs
-Makes a racket (not that big an issue).

L96
Pros:
-Very accurate, even when standing.
-Thin crosshairs.
-Reloads faster than M24
-Awesome quiet sound.

Cons:
-Cant hurt helis, or kill the pilot.
-Wont take armoured guys down to 1 health.


I personally use the L96 myself, although recently ive seen that the M95 has improved a bit.
Basicly the low down is. If u want to shoot people while going prone on top of a hill, or are shooting people at close range AND you need something against helis, M95 is for you.
If u want to be able to get headshots at extreme range, and plan to move around a lot, and dont care that u wil miss that 1 in 100 chance of getting pilot shot, L96 is your gun.

If you always try and go for headshots then l96a1 is your best bet due to the higher accuracy and thinner scope or just stick to the m24.If you don't get many headshots then go with the m95. Although with the m95's loud sound the enemy will quickly spot you.I'm talking about moving targets though. If there is a still target then both rifles are good.

The M95 ignores armor. It takes any enemy to 2 bars. The L96 takes an unarmored enemy to 2 bars, and an armored one to a little less than half, I think. Either way it's 2 shots to kill. Unless you headshot, of course.

I got the M95 a while back, and I really dislike it. It's totally horrible I find. The loud sound always gives me away, especially since I don't like to camp and rather run behind enemy encampments and try to take off people from short to middle range. M96 and the M24 are both pretty poor rifles at that. Since they both take too long to reload and the M96 is a dead give away. The Dragunov excels at this task though, since it's semi auto...

I been trying to rank up just to get the L96, I find it easier to use those precious times when I kill someone with it or play the mod BF2 with Euro guns in singleplayer. The lower sound, and higher accuracy have completely won me over. And frankly I can't wait to rank up just to unlock it.

i use and enjoy both, depnding on my sniping situation.

really long distances and can afford to take my time i go for the l96...when im closer and need to take out guys quickly, i go for the m95

Get the M95..aim for the body.
You dont have to go out there and be a headshot artist when your doing 95 dmg.
once a guy is down to that little health the smallets dmg can mean a kill for you or an assist.
Pull a pistol, chuck a nade, have a friendly off him, blast him again...have him get fall dmg.
Also consider this...guy takes a lil fall dmg, splash, dmg from another player etc..
He's runnin around thinking "this isnt much dmg, 2-3 bars etc.."
One body shot from an M95..dead, point for you.
And then theres the times when that cockpit shot comes around...and you got the L9 in your hand.

Assist or kill..youll get more with the M95 imo.

Sometimes with the L9 you dont get the headshot, ya gotta go for some other body part.
Time it takes for a reload is perfect time for an opponent to duck, run, cover, heal. M95 finishes people off or makes them scared to run down the steps to fast or miss that 9 as there leaping off a building top.

with improved m95 accuracy..i prefer m95 above all sniper rifles...since its just mad ppowerful (95dmg) i just use it in karkland alot because ppl tend to be slightly hurt and thats enuff for a kill...the l96 is cool..(awp..cmon ppl) and it has a weird sound, but its just like the m24..accurate but only half damage

I hated the M95 before 1.2. Now I like it almost as much as the M24 due to the improved accuracy.
