did BF2 plan on having 128 Player support?

    just wondering!

that would make for some expensive server bills every month.

Geez, 64 is crazy enough. I couldn't imagine 128 players unless they made the maps like 4 times bigger. I don't even play on servers over 32 slots...

              You must be kidding.

The most fun time I ever had was a 64 player server on a 16 size map on BF2.

Because of computer resourses i believe, it would take alot of computing power to run 128 players, also bandwith. I am sure it can be done, but then the BF2 minimum systems requirements would probably have to raise.

Eh, I don't think I'd be a very big fan of that... it would take all of the strategy out of it, and make it more like a deathmatch game than a go-anywhere-do-anything type of game.

I believe it was thought of when BF2 was first planned, but like others may have said, it would take alot of resources and a really good connection.

More things that were taken out- Blackhawk w/rockets; Headwrap/mask skins for MEC (all i know for now)

                      EDIT: Yes they do.

From memory there is some evidence in the map editor when looking at kubra dam and cleansweep/fushe ? that they were made for 128 players. I can't remember what it was exactly but i'm sure someone familar with the map editor will post.

there's already way too many bases on the 32/64 size maps. It would be even worse with 128 size maps.

Look at Karkand for example. If you have a good squad in the armor (with a few infantry to help) you take a base, killing a few defenders. Then onto the next, and next etc.... Then go and recap the bases you already capped. Sure it's good for points, but there's too many bases. And many times, it's not much more than flag hopping with a few kills here and there.

yes they planned to do that, they said they didn't put it in due to the high bandswitch and they couldn't get it to work very good without tons of lag , so they wouldn't support it .

It's not the only thing they planned and never got into the game
