Last night on a 24 slot ranked server with karkand 32 player map i was commander, my class was engy and yes i was a fighting commander though i didn use any vehicles, well 3/4 of the way i was awarded the expert engineer combat award, i know the commander kills from arty must have helped because i was so busy commanding i know i only had about 10 kills from my shot gun defending flags... feels kinda cheap to get it this way...

Re: i feel cheap
You got it, congrats... I'm sure most good pilots just get all their expert badges by flying around with the kits, so it's basically the same thing. Good artying.

Re: i feel cheap
Don't feel cheap, that's the nature of the game. If you get expert assault as a tank driver what is the problem with it? I see none.

Re: i feel cheap
Exactly. Kills are kills. Does it really matter what weapons you use to get the combat badges? I don't see how. They were geniune kills - you weren't cheating or exploiting or anything, so there's no reason to feel cheap.
I got my basic engineer as a commander exclusively through artillery (by accident - I'd only gone as engineer so I could repair my command assets if required, not specifically to get the badge), and I got my Airborne Ribbon when my mate's chopper was shot up at high altitude and I bailed. How the game was intended? Perhaps not. But cheap? Nah - you didn't go out of your way looking for an easy route to the badge, so who cares?

Re: i feel cheap
Nah, that's not cheap. Now I feel cheep.....
Last night I was playing Sharqi on a smaller player map and I didn't know that there was a flag at the building at the bottom of the ramp of the TV station. I'm in the tank and these guys just keep coming at me from that building and I just keep blowing them away. The whole time I kept thinking, "Why doesn't their squadleader go somewhere else for them to spawn?"
Once I found out that there was a flag down there and that it was the only one they had for the 4 or 5 minutes I was pounding them, I felt like total crap.
I apologized but I'm sure those guys weren't buying it and figured I was just another stat whore.

Re: i feel cheap
Cheap is standing on a box and firing the grappling hook over and over again until you get your badge.
Cheap is throwing flashbangs into the air for no reason other than to get your badge.
Cheap is climbing a building with grappling hook and jumping down (wash, rinse, repeat) until you get your badge.
Cheap is flying chopper as high as you can and jumping out just to get your badge.
Why should you apologize for that? If they weren't smart enough to respawn as AT and frag your ass then it is their fault. You have nothing to apologize for.Originally posted by chknboneNah, that's not cheap. Now I feel cheep.....

My dad told me something funny once and I think it applies here.
He said that when you're young that you call a promiscuous individuals "whores". When you're grown up that you call them "good sports".
Does that make you feel any less cheap?

Now that I've spent a few minutes thinking about it, I take it all back. You're just a cheap, dirty whoreOriginally posted by =IMO=THJonesthanks guys i dont feel so cheap now but i wish they would lower the requirements some and make it so someone can't get it except by kills from that kit
I agree that some of the badge requirements are steep. But I don't have a problem with that as not everyone is meant to get them all and not everyone is going to be a General. If it were easy then it wouldn't be worth squat.

Well that was the "sad" part....they were ALL coming back as AT but my commander had placed a couple of supply crates along that road so they couldn't really take me out. And when they did take me out, I respawned right next to the tank and blew them up with the TOW as they came up the hill in the Hummer, by then the tank was back for me.
I swear I thought I was just defending the TV station but in reality I was inadvertantly just base raping.
(I stilll thought it was kind of funny after I realized what I had done though)

If you've seen some of my other posts, you'll see that I don't feel like a situation like you were in is a bad thing. We aren't fencing here. Play to win. Not like you were glitching or using a hack. Even with a crate to fix you they should have had the skills to hammer you. Obviously they didn't.Originally posted by chknboneWell that was the "sad" part....they were ALL coming back as AT but my commander had placed a couple of supply crates along that road so they couldn't really take me out. Re: i feel cheap
Hey, CONGRATULATIONS!
Getting some of the expert combat badges is hard as heck.
I am +300 hour Engy w/o my expert comabt badge :hmm:
Im no good at piloting the Jet, so that method is out.
Hey now... tell me who DID NOT fly high and bail out for that ribbon? The requirements for that one were too easy, IMO, that just one long fall rewarded you with it. They should have made the req. an hour of parachuting, that would be funOriginally posted by cheesewzCheap is flying chopper as high as you can and jumping out just to get your badge.

Good guess, but no. It is actually a shorter version of my company name, which also happens to be my domain name.Originally posted by =IMO=THJonesso let me guess your vanity plate is : cheesewz?
I cannot tell a lie. It is true that I flew towards the sun for a long time and jumped out.
