A warning to all (especially server ops) concerning filter-auto-kick

I had this happen to me a few weeks ago, but I just thought about posting it.


You know that some servers have words that are not allowed, and that the server auto-kicks anyone who says it.

Well, some people have been abusing this by getting people kicked. They'll name their account where the banned word is hidden inside their name. Then they do something obvious that'll get people to say their name....ie...teamkilling like crazy. People say their name, maybe to tell admin, or to sell to stop, and they get warned for language. If they say the name again, bam....they are gone.

I got banned from a server because there was a glitcher (imm. glitcher) that was using this. His name, i forget, but was like Wicanooobik or something. The banned word was nooob.

I highly doubt that he planned that ahead of time. The central nervous systems of glitchers/hackers/griefers are not developed enough to devise such a plan. When dealing with a glitcher/hacker/griefer keep in mind that you are dealing with an organism that falls some where between slime mold and amoebas. While it may be tempting to attribute some of their behaviors to cognizant thought, this is simply not possible with their limited brain development.

If server owners used the literal word function instead of the wild word function this wouldnt happen
