The two most basic BF2 irritations. Why aren't they sorted?

OK Not a BF2 bitching session although like just about everybody out there I concur that BF2 is full of holes. There are however 2 very fundamental faults which drive me up the wall no end and I wanted to guage opinion here.

    1. Spawn camping. Getting an APC or tank or jeep or grenades or whatever and just sitting on a spawn point and killing people as they spawn. Why can't there be a 3 second or a 10 metre amnesty? It just drives me up the wall.

    2. Assholes, who because you beat them to a tank or whatever, jump out infront of the vehicle so you TK them and then punish you. Perhaps within 20 or 30 meters of the vehicle spawn point -points for TKing should not be possible.

Personally I'd just get rid of the TK minus points system. You get 5 tks in a round and you get kicked no questions, no minus points.

No good, what about a stray grenade or a full blackhawk?

Can't we just make a whine forum. The posts do add up.

We don't need to repeat that assholes do suck, that a certain APC is always raping that one alleyspawn in Karkand.

The TK system encourages fair play, if you like it or not. And I don't care if someone does punish me, I don't care because I know that I did a wonderful job protecting that spawn/flag or got rid of that APC. If points and virtual medals do mean so much than it's almost like playing an MMO.

There can't be an amnesty because the spawn points are very wacky. Do you imagine that when your squad goes to cap a flag and suddenly someone right behind your back who can't get damaged by anything kills my whole squad, including me.

I only agree with you on the people that cause you to tk them on purpose, and then will still punish you. Those people suck. It's what makes the whole teamkill/punish function in the game so horrible. I would love to see the negative points go away for tking, and for it to not effect your death total. Then keep the punish function, and set it for a number of punishes before being kicked for a round. That way, people who do it on purpose won't accomplish anything except getting kicked, and the accidental tks shouldn't get punished as much because it won't add a death to the person that got tk'ed. I think it's that added death that causes most people to punish every time.

The spawn camping is part of the game. In fact, it's part of most every FPS I've ever played. You learn to deal with it, and get over it. It's a cheap way to get points, and it is very annoying...but it's not exploiting anything. And I will spawn camp the hell out of a CP with armor. I do it for two reasons. First of all, I provide cover for the ground pounders trying to get to and capture the flag. I also do it because if you're dumb enough to keep spawning in the same place even though I've killed you 3 times in a row, then it's your fault for not spawning somewhere else as AT and trying to take me out from a distance. The only spawn I won't touch is an uncapturable flag. Other then that, it's all fair game.

Its selfish players that taint the game. The only problem is they can't be fixed no matter how many patches are released. We just have to deal with it. Come here to vent, but don't expect sympathy because everyone has a different view. The biggest weakness us as players can expose is the fact that we allow the irritators to know they get to us. Its unfortunate, but its the nature of the best.

There is an easy way to defeat the Spawn Camper.

              Don't spawn.

I usually chill for a little while, throws 'em off. Sometimes enough to make an escape.

Spawn camping is not an issue. The garbage TK system on the other hand needs to be reworked. I don't think there is anyone out there who would say they are completely happy with it at the moment, and most people absolutely hate the way it is implemented. The system is supposed to prevent griefing via tk's, yet it promotes a new and far more annoying type of griefing by allowing poeple to force tk's onto you that are beyond your control. It needs to be fixed. It would be nice if people would complain as loudly about real issues like this as they do about all the other nonsense.

Tk punish serves no purpose! Remove from game to make more fun and enjoyable from the n( . )(. )bs

***What really kicks me off is the commanders love to arty any area even with their own team occupying it because they don’t get tk points ....as im Just about to cap flag and our own commander arties the area and we die from friendly fire…..That sucks

                    1. spawn camping unfortunately it is easy to remember the exact points your enemy will spawn at any particular flag and camp those positons and kill the enemy as they spawn, EA saw this in BF42 and their GREAT answer was BF2 would have squad leaders as mobile spawn points to end spawn camping in the BF series, while it helps it hasnt ended spawn camping as the flags not the sqaud leaders is where your tanks apcs ect are so spwan camping the other teams assets is pretty comanplace.
The only real fix i see is that the assets randomly spawn at differnt flags to make it slightly more unpredictable for the spawn campers.

2 Run over tks, this should be elimanted like arty tks were, simple fix only gun fire can cause a tk

me i think someone who runs infront of any vehicle runs into freindly mines or claymores should get a self tk deduction, it would have taught people to be carefull

Oh how I agree with this. It's especially annoying when you are driving in a apc, and you have people in there. They love to jump out while you're still moving, and sometime they get killed. Then they punish you for it. I've screamed at my monitor before, "You a**. I didn't make you push the 'E' button, and yet you punish me." It's a real joke!

It seems that for an unknown reason I usually wind up on a team that has thier uncappable flag spawn camped at the begining of the game. It has happened so much that on these maps I just expect it and have developed stratagies to deal with it. I think that you shouldnt camp these flags during the first 2 or 3 minutes. I also believe that after the first 2 or 3 minutes that the other team should be expected to come in and camp the flag. If we havent captured another flag by then we probably wont ever get one.
I personally dont camp an uncappable during the first 2 or 3 minutes. After that it depends on how the other team has been doing. If they give us a chance I will return the favor. If they spawn camp from the begining I do too. Mostly out of revenge. I try to match the enemys play on this item.
EA must think that its ok to spawn camp or they would fix it, so I guess its left up to the player as to what they will do. . . . . . . .Red

Our server rule is no camping uncap unless you have all the flags and we enforce it.

I can see spawn camping at and upcap when all flags are taken, then uncaps are fair game... open season, hehe

As for TK. Yes, I'll admit I run in front of my teammates vehicles, but to get them to stop so I can get in. I start hitting "E" before they're near me so I don't get killed
However, if I round a corner and get hit or am hit while going across an airstrip or I am just plainly not paying attention and get TK'ed, I don't punish. I rarely punish for a TK, usually coz it's MY fault, or just accident(stray grenade/fire). I'm not an @$$ about it

It would be nice to put a 3foot zone in front/behind all vehicles and then even if it's an accident and the person wants to be mean, they can punish you for something that was an accident or their fault

Some things I would like changed:

No death score from TKs or arty

Runover teamkills with a jet on the runway do not lose you points.

armour and aircraft take much longer to respawn. As was pointed out in the AT thread, you can spend ages taking down a tank and it's back in less than a minute..
