    patch 1.22 issue

hi guys I've recently built my new pc and just reinstalled BF2 onto my hard drive after a format. Downloaded the 1.22 patch (full not incremental) and when I double click the installer the file doesn't even open. So I thought ok, dodgy file, I'll get it from somewhere else.... So I downloaded it again and once again it won't open. I've tried installing in safe mode and yet no joy. Any ideas?

Edit: tried to install the ea downloader and it wouldn't let me. Although I tried another installer on my PC for a different product and it was fine :S

Edit X 2: managed to get a different patch to open and now i goes to install and comes up with a error message saying "patch failed" grrr (when it gets to bf.exe.)

    anyone?

    Re: patch 1.22 issue

Sounds like you have a controller driver issue. If the downloads are failing, including the EAD install, then you have something wrong with either the downloads (internet connection, firewall, virus, anti-virus, etc) or when saving the file (driver, hard drive, controller).

Though you were able to get a different installer to work...then maybe it has something to do with software updates.

The EAD uses IE6 and will fail with the beta version of IE7.

You need to .net framework installed. Even if you have the newest version 2 of the .net framework, you still must have the 1.1 .net framework installed.

What error did you get when you tried to use the EAD?

        Re: patch 1.22 issue

cant remember the error on the EAD installer, I'm trying a different way now - downloading the v1.21 full client and then going to attempt to upgrade from 1.21 to 1.22. And I've had a look in my add/remove programs via control panel for the 1.1 .net framework and I can't see it in there (I think i remember seeing it there on my old PC) so gonna get 1.1 now :S

edit: saying that though I've just checked on windows updater and it doesnt say that I need to get the .1.1 framework.. does anyone know if it was included in the service pack 2 update?

all sorted guys :) the incremental patches did the trick! cheers for the help
