I have an older (5yrs?) Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D. I think it works fantastic for BF2. It doesnt have quite as many buttons as my friends Saiteks but plenty for the game. It's also a bit heavier/bulkier which I find helps keep it in place during hard manuevering. I only paid like 35 bucks for it long ago so I'd say its been a great value.

Logitech Wingman Extreme 3D Pro while is probably the best intro/cheap joystick out there, it will break one day; although i've been a flight simmer for 15 years and I've come to learn that all joysticks will eventually break...logitechs just break too quick.

By break i mean that the calibration will start to drift and you won't be able to recalibrate to fix. I have the Wingman Extreme 3D and the Yaw twist drifts to the left just enough to make flying the chopper a headache.

Now before sombody flames me about all joystick breaking...thats a blanket statement and i know people have had joysticks for 5+ years. Hell, anybody remember the Gravis Phoenix?? I've had that thing for 10 years and it still works great...just too bulky.

My last comment that will age me is anybody remember when joysticks use to have screw calibration (thats where you could take a screwdriver to the joystick to recalibrate)..i think if they still had that you could fix the drift problem.

Ha, the logitech Attack 3 is the stick I use, have had it for over half a year now with no problems. Its a very comfortable stick to use, which is most important.

No this is wrong. It gives you way more control over your aircraft if you're using a joystick. You cannot even begin to compare a skilled joystick dogfight with a mouse&keyboard approach.

I'll fly my joystick against your mouse and keyboard any day of the week. Let's make it interesting and play for a dollar a kill, I could use the cash.

I have the Saitek Cyborg Evo, the column twist rudder is just perfect But I only use it for jets, I find the mouse is better for helos - dunno why its just me

Just keep training with the joystick. You'll get better at it. Something that gets a lot easier with a joystick is the second gun run when you've just passed your target and turn to reaquire. Sidestrafing and leading your rockets because of your speed sideways also gets easier. A lot of this thanks to the yaw.
