    Can anyone say Defense?

I am amazed at the number of times when I am in a squad that we capture a pt and the squad leader says the famous line-"attack this point", when their is heavy fighting going on in our pt when just captured. If there is no aggressers around, fine, but there is nothing wrong with defense in BF2. Sometimes I'll play a lone wolf just so I can defend a pt and unless spott enemies for jest or helos to attack if I can not take them out.

Every map has it's pt where there is heavy battles and this is the best place to defend and rack up some pts for all those stat paddlers

Just today, my squad leader was attaking a flag and most the squad was still at a choke pt engaging in the enmey. I never leave a defense stand to spawn on my squad leader, then you can kiss a flag good bye for what, another flag

To answer ... no. Most players don't have a clue about defense.

What drives me crazy is when you have a flag that you are defending with fairly heavy fighting about and you die. As you are waiting to respawn, the flag goes neutral because there is ONE guy there capping it. The map clearly shows 3 or 4 blue dots nearly on top of the flag, but they either don't do anything or, worse yet, head for another flag. Hey morons .... the dude is capping the flag!!! Sure enough, the enemy ends up with the position and then I have to make my way back over there and try to cap it myself.

I don't understand why people pay no attention to the map or to neutral flags..... same reason that people don't revive, give supplies, follow orders, etc.

I see I am not the only oe. When that happens I will always spot the enemy to see what it is a tank(help unless I am a At, which I have been of late-then boom) but it makes no sense to leave a flag that is going to an enemy to attack another flag. You can also win or make the enemy lose more tickets by having all the flags- duh:evil:

aha! So you would be that guy I'm learning to ignore requests for supplies, arty or uavs from...

Seriously. Tell your commander no if you don't want to do what he says. At least he'll understand what you ARE doing and be able to react appropriately and instruct team players that actually are listening to do something productively around what you are doing.

              Sheesh.

And yes, I agree defense is good, especially on a newly captured point. I find myself doing what you mention though, as soon as we cap a point, I'll point out the next flag I'm looking at to grab. I guess I do it more out of letting my squad know where the next place is, but I'm always operating under the assumption we don't really move out of our newly captured flag until things are pretty much secured.

The difference I guess is when half of our friggen team has spawned there and there is a huge assault front going on there. Chances are it's better to move out of the way, find a less hectic point and get the flag there. We can always double back and clean up the mess we left if anything bad happened. But sticking around in that chaos usually just means a lot of dieing, which doesn't help anyone really.

IMHO, anyone that plays the sniper kit should be very familiar with defence. I often sit back and pick off guys trying to take one of our CPs. Then best part is I get the points for the kill and the points for the flag defence. Great place for laying the claymores too.

The biggest problem of commanding in BF2 is that it is a extremely rare thing to have a good commander and good squads on the same team. Most games I play either have clueless commanders, squads that don't work with each other or the commander, or both.

I once had a great commander who would use VOIP to tell the squad leaders everything that was going on and where/when to strike. Instead of commending him for the great job he was doing in keeping us alive and crushing the enemy, some of the players started telling him to shut up because he was talking to much. What a joke!

Oh ya! I love being sniper and picking off an enemy on foot trying to cap a flag, boom, 2 pts for kill, 1 pt of defense. See, you even get pts for defense, but few do anything about it. Maybey there should be ribbion or award for defense?

I also like using the At kit for defense, It is awesome to shoot at a tank here and there and he is freaking out where you are:laugh: . Sometimes I just have to spot a tank and boom, bombs all up his a** or an attack helo takes him out.
