Need Tweaking Advice please

As I am always trying to improve system for BF2, I need some expertise....one of the threads mentioned that an on-board sound card (integrated) will slow your system down compared to a psi installed card..is this true?

I also have a stock PSU with my eMachine, (specs below), would upgrading to a 400+ watt higher quality unit give me any better stability or improve gameplay?

X800 GTO 128 mb
MSI RS480 MOBO

OnBoard sound cards usually drain more CPU usage over other "external" soundcards.
Using a better soundcard can help in less CPU usage.
If you use max sound quality on a better sound card, you might not see a great improvenment, as better sound quality comes with a price in performance. Depends on system overall performance.

Be wary of other tweakguides that suggest too many registry tweaks and other useless tweaks. More often than not, these tweaks don't work and never have in XP.
The guides above give good advice and information on these bad tweaks too.

it will not slow yours down as much, because you have A. newer and better onboard sound and B. a better newer processer.

but, getting an x-fi card would let you run at Ultra High sound settings. its not about the FPS gain, its about the sound quality, as I always say people are losing sight of that. you want to be able to run Ultra High, so it A. sounds muc better and B. helps you hearing more people etc... not so you get 2 extra fps.
