Help ! Please Look Here Ea Cant Solve This

Ok have tried everthin that EA have suggested no help wot so ever

Here is the problem from my first install of this game it has not worked properly from the second i click on the bf2 short cut on the destop it will run through to the opening screan shots then stop then a few seconds later startup again it will do this all the way through progressively getting worse till it crashes

this is wot ea have suggested so far il cut and paste from there e mails please any advice would be great ea seems LOST !

Please try setting your screen resolution to 800 x 600 and see if the game runs smoother. You will also need to lower a Hardware Sound Acceleration setting on your computer to "basic". To do this, follow these steps:

    · Click the Start button in the bottom left hand corner of your Desktop.
    · Click on "Run".
    · Erase any text already in the run prompt.
    · Type in: dxdiag
    · Click the OK button.
    · Select the sound tab at the top of the tool.
    · Set the Hardware Sound Acceleration Slider to "Basic".
    · Click "Exit" in the bottom right hand corner.

Please try to limit the BF2 application to only one CPU Instead of two which is the default value. To do this by using the task manager, select the Process Tab and searching for the BF2.exe process, right-click it and select 'Set Affinity ...' there deselect every checkbox except of the first CPU, CPU 0 and click 'OK'.

Please make sure that you have closed any programs or tasks running in the background as sometimes one of the programs can conflict with the game. Background applications such as anti-virus programs are often the cause of conflicts.

    · Hold down the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete keys at the same time
    · Click the "Processes" tab.
    · Click on the gray bar in the middle column that says User Name to sort by user name.
    · Do NOT select anything for SYSTEM, LOCAL SERVICE, or NETWORK SERVICE.
    · Click on anything besides EXPLORER and TASKMGR for this User Name or other user names.
    · Click on END PROCESS
    · Repeat these steps until only explorer.exe and taskmgr.exe are open for this user profile.

First, run ‘Battlefield 2 Eraser 1.2’ to remove all Windows registry settings for the game. You can obtain the eraser from:
    ftp://ftp.ea-europe.com/UK_Support/E...Eraser_v12.reg

You will be asked if you want to add the information, click Yes.

    Next, delete the game folder:

    Double-click on My Computer
Double-click on the hard drive your game is installed to (default is C:\)
Go to the folder where the game is installed to on your computer (default is C:\Program Files\EA Games)
Click once on the Battlefield 2 folder, now press delete on your keyboard and choose yes to delete
In My Documents you will find a Battlefield 2 folder, delete this (be sure to empty your recycle bin prior to reinstalling)
Once the game has been completely removed from your PC, you will be free to reinstall the game.

Re: Help ! Please Look Here Ea Cant Solve This

Im going through the same issues right now with EA. I keep getting the same answers from them and nothing is working. one post I saw suggested that the problem is with IRQ sharing. BF2 doesnt support scaleable link interface. Here is the post I read on it:

"Battlefied 2 hard locks almost everytime a I play. After a bit of research I found this is most likely because my GForce 7800 GT is sharing an IRQ with my SB Audigy 4.

I have an SLI set up. And here is the IRQ info

    IV. IRQ Configuration
    0 System timer
1 Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard
    2 -available-
    3 -available-
    4 Communications Port (COM1)
    5 -available-
    6 Standard floppy disk controller
    7 -available-
    8 System CMOS/real time clock
    9 Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
    10
    11 -available-
    12 PS/2 Compatible Mouse
    13 Numeric data processor
    14 -available-
    15 NVIDIA CK804 Parallel ATA Controller (v2.7)
16 Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller
17 Marvell Yukon 88E8001/8003/8010 PCI Gigabit Ethernet Controller
18 Creative SB Audigy 4 (WDM)
    18 NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT
    19 NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT
19 OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller
20 Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller
    21 NVIDIA CK804 ADMA Controller (v2.7)
    22 NVIDIA CK804 ADMA Controller (v2.7)
    23 NVIDIA Network Bus Enumerator
23 Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller "

"I Moved the sound card up a PCI slot, no longer conflicted with video card but conflicted with the Marvell Yukon Ethernet Controller, tried it still got hard locks, so I moved it back to the previous setup with the sound card in the lowest pci slot. At this point I don't know what do try."

"After doing some reading on both the Nvidia boards and the BF2 boards this is not a Nvidia,Alienware,Creative problem, this is a problem with the game. It has problems when playing online with IRQ shared devices. So now it appears there isn't anything I can do until EA/Dice decide to fix it."

now this is only what Ive been going through with my system which has two processors, im not sure if youre set up the same.

Re: Help ! Please Look Here Ea Cant Solve This

Good pont man I also share IRQs with my video card and have had nothing but instability. Both CTD and total system crashes to Bios. And man I have tried everything. I did get some stability with Tweak Vid drivers (not perfect but some stability) but now lost with 1.3 so now back to square 1...Grrrrr!

On the back of your note to EA, I wrote to them too. The response was pretty standard...Hardware, not us - speak to your hardware vendor, not us. We don't have access to the programmers so don't know if they know and even if they do, don't know if it is on the fix list. (sounds like Microsoft doesn't it!)

This is most discouraging. The game is very good, well thought out and somewhat addictive, yet the instability from day one really let's it down. Any new games I buy from now on I will make sure EA\DICE is not the maker...Shame on you EA for poor support and even poorer understanding of this game's instability. As a point I have a P4 multithreader with a 1GB RAM and a Leadtek NVidia 6600GT (128)...I run on medium settings so as not to streatch the Vid card. I have a pal on an AMD processor with 1GB RAM and ATI (This could not be more different than mine) and his is inherently unstable too!

As such there must be a large amount of users who find this game a problem to keep loaded. The answer is simple...Don't expect a fix sometime soon.

      Shame on you EA!

Have you enabled secondary monitors or TV-OUT? If so try disabling these.

BF2 might not run if these secondary display devices, run in refresh rates that differ from the refresh rate, in which bf2 runs.

How about drivers for chipset, video and audio? Do you have the latest installed from the manufactures of your hardware devices websites?

I notices that you 4xRAM. Are the RAM modules similar in speed and in timings? If not try removing modules so you only have one pair that are alike. This would troubleshoot if different RAM modules can't get along.

Re: Help ! Please Look Here Ea Cant Solve This

            Thanks for the help, dude,

Unfortunatly tried all of the above...The point is this game still remains inherently unstable with a substantial bug that has not been fully resolved from the day it was released. No patch has fixed it and no communication from DICE suggest it either acknowledges there is a large bug or if they have a fix.

The only conclussion is that the code on-line does not support multi-IRQs (that's my guess) addressing and we as a result have to accept that the game will crud itself every now and again. Frustrating as it is.

The result...don't get hooked on DICE software as it tends to be poor on release and worse on patch. Sad conclussion I know, but given the helpdesk response and the fact that both me and a friend suffer the same issues with very differnt kit, and have tried all the resolutions listed on every web site on the web, I conclude that it is not just us. Maybe this game is before its time, or DICE don't fully benchtest all the possible kit combinations out there...Who knows - Who cares?

If anyone has any really insightfull ideas, then please let us know?

            Cam
