    Simple question.

Im playing BF2 for a little while now but i cant seem to figure out how those guys who are driving with a tank and having engineer class repair their tanks by not leaving it. I tried it and well it didnt repair my tank while i was in it.

    Re: Simple question.

They don't repair their tank without leaving it (you must get out to wrench it), but they can repair the tank of another by being next to it. You can repair your own tank by hanging out next to a crate. The ability to passively repair/resupply vehicles is why a preferred combination of dudes for an armor column are engy and support driver/gunner combos. Put together enough vehicles in a group and you become a nearly unstoppable juggernaut.

Could use supply drops to repair too.

If you see me out and about on a pub join up in a armor column. It can be a thing of beauty when done with a good team.

Sometimes I get in the habit of playing like a lone wolf on pubs, when it isn't too hard to get some others to join your cause. Recently I got a good headslap moment from a guy on a pub which made me see the light. First thing on getting on the server I hopped in an APC and ran right up the main drag of Karkand and into a AT killbox. One of the dudes on my team sent a message something like this "nice job dickhead, next time wait for me and we'll hang together". It turned out to be a match made in heaven, we turned around a large ticket deficit into a crushing victory and it was great fun (for our team anyway). I forgave his less than civil greeting as I was the one clearly in error, and I learned a lesson about engy's, armor and teamwork.

Moral of the story is this. Don't be afraid to ask someone (or tell someone) to join you in an armor pack rather than just running around alone. Yes, even in a pub server. And if someone asks you, accept the offer. Your chances of survival and domination increase greatly. If you're in a tank and see a guy running, send him a "mount up". It is easier to guard a tank from AT dudes if you have a machine gunner. You'll both get a ton of points for it anyway. Besides the points, it just seems to be more fun.
