Re: explenation of the two guys who have those massive scores.

It seems like this magic number 65,535 or whatever it is, is just the largest number that the stats can hold. So whenever someone gets say more total kills then that, it just stays at 65,535, since that is the largest number the database can hold.....its not necessarily that everyone who has that number in their stats is a leet haxor noob stat p@dd3R. ha ha

whats really scary is there are probable a good number of people whio used this samew flaw / glitch to gain their colonel and other high ranks, myself i have mega hours on this game and I am only an average player but I am suspicious that anyone with over capt rank is either a really l33t player or has abused the system in some way.

I really don't see how the link explains how they did it. I can see what he is saying about exploiting an signed value . . . however, I don't see how one would pull that off in the game.

Regardless, how does them exploiting a bug in the game prove that stats are meaningless and that EA is a bunch of crooks? Their logic is terribly flawed.

The link doesn't say how they did it. In fact, I'm going to assume that [CEA] is not going to indulge the public with this info because I don't think EA even knows how they did it. Therefore, [CEA] think they are in a position to make demands on EA.

The number 65535 is just an error in the way bf2.com reports stats. Don't think it has anything to do with [CEA] or the exploit.

If I'm wrong, post the exploit.

Agreed totally. I find that I really don't care anyway. Not because I don't care about MY stats. I do. I enjoy trying to get the awards. I feel a sense of accomplishment when I get one, because I have worked on them as goals. (not everytime I play BTW). But if some else got them by exploiting, I really don't care. I suppose if someone has ranked up illegally so that he can always outrank me for the commander job, that does affect me in some small way, but really, how often do I really think that happens? Not enough to matter. I can always find a different place to play.

The idea that there are bugs and exploits and hacks that people choose to use doesn't make me as angry as many of you and neither do I find anger or invalidness with EA. Me and my buddies find a lot of enjoyment in playing this game. That's what we paid for. Is it perfect? No, but it will never please everyone all the time anyway. Even me. Just get over it and move on.

Those that only enjoy infantry combat shouldn't be playing BF2 expecting just that. As for imposing anything, as you just stated, simply because alot of the BF2 forum community hates vehicles doesn't mean they should impose what they like over what the game is based on.

As for the exploit, let them have as many points as they can manage. This is what I've been trying to say all along, I play the game for the game and fun...not for the stats. All the stats did for me was unlock the weapons I wanted, all of them. I like a variety in my games, and if someone else feels they found a way to exploit the system then by all means, PLEASE do. I prove every night I play that simply because someone has a higher amount of time played or points had, does not mean they are any better than me or you.

If you're happy with your score, then don't worry about these hooligans that exploit systems. Anything these people do will never affect your game.

I wonder if they had enough people to do it, except get like the limited amount or unless its never ending which I doubt, would it crash the stat system and delete everyones stats? Cause that would be funny how much whining there would be.

They try to act like they are some Robin Hood of the community, but then they should at least report it to EA telling them how they came up with the bug so that they could fix it. Instead they go and ruin the joy for everyone who cares about stats and are competing on the rank tables.

And they just want to say that EA is a devil company for $$$ by using the stats systeem and abuse it. Because they don't want set cunstom map rankend

and so the 95% are playing the rankend maps and the the great cunstom maps are not played.

Based on vehicular combat, I never specified which vehicles. There is a mix between infantry, land, air and water (although not enough in my opinion) vehicles. If you choose to stay on foot, that is a decision you are making.

Giving "infantry" only maps to those that want it simply renders the game another generic shooter.

That's all I ever mean to say. I like being infantry just as much as the next guy, hell I'm on foot more than in vehicles it seems. I simply don't enjoy when people say that most people want infantry maps and infantry this, when it's simply not true.

I've been playing BF1942 and BF Vietnam since the beginning; why? Because of the vehicles, not because of the infantry combat. I love the weapons you can play with, and I'm quite efficient with them, but the second I see a tanke or APC, I'm in it right away. I like helping my team out as much as I can, and if being an engineer with another buddy in another vehicle as an engineer, we complete the BF cycle.

Sharqi is a good example of a balanced map with both vehicles and infantry. Although it has now become one of my least favorite maps, I have to admit I've had some great moments as infantry, coming on land from a boat, capturing the beach front spawn, taking a jeep out to another base, avoiding tank fire, rockets, you name it.

All to say that this game wouldn't be nearly as fun without tanks, jets, helicopters. Sure the bombings would stop, but how much fun would that really be? Special Forces is a great example of infantry based combat gone down the drain. They released a great looking expansion, but it just isn't the same as how BF2 vanilla runs, and how it works and plays.

We adapt to our surroundings: If I die from a tank, I will inform my team by spotting it, choosing an AT as my next kit and hope to God other teamates think like me!

If a multitude of people found out, I highly doubt anyone going for the multi-millions in points is going to give a flying flip about getting their stats reset. Getting their stats reset wouldn't show in any way what so ever that "EA is boss". The fact that their is a bug that gives you that many points would show EA is retarded. Resetting stats means nothing, and heck, I think the massive points to get them reset would be a good way for people to get their stats reset so they can pick unlocks they want, since there's currently no way to go back and re-pick. :p

Nothing is balanced in game, because of the people who play the game. As far as Sharqi goes, the people on US almost NEVER have a clue that they can lose all their bases it seems, and that the TV station just might be important to defend. I find often that if a couple of people have the bright idea (and sense to use this lost art) to defend an important flag, in this case the TV station, the US does fairly well. It's all because players are stupid. =/

Says you. I guess I'll bring up this subject again: Where do you get your stats from? 99% of the time? Show me your proof.

I meant balanced as in; vehicles to infantry. Not MEC to USMC. The same, in a way, could be said about those playing Karkand. Some people may think it is MEC friendly while others dispute it's USMC friendly.

The answer is simple: One team is to defend the front lines, and the other is to attack. I can't count how many times, on Sharqi, I've seen the USMC lose all the points, yet the only players left over are the camping snipers with extremely low points. This is by far not the map's fault.

To prove my point, if only for my own points, check my stats out (by clicking on my signature). Under maps, Sharqi, I have played it 59hrs with 122 wins and 56 losses. Now, although the stats don't mention which team I was on, they do display that I've played as USMC much more often than MEC and China, by a margin of at least 100hrs. I can tell you however, that although we normally do win as MEC on the map, when I do play USMC I rarely lose.

The main trick is to defend. Not to attack. One tactic the MEC uses is to get the TV station right off the bat. If you're aware of this, it is very preventable. Plant some C4 on the flag, and wait. If you don't feel like waiting, well, plant the C4 and go off and do something, just don't die. Once you have a feeling that the flag is about to get captured (see no1 on flag preceded by approx. 3-10 deaths by teammates) or you know is being captured (flag is white) then detonate your C4. If the MEC squad was not smart enough, that should also have killed the squad leader, if there was one, and you've properly avoided a normally unavoidable defeat by the MEC over the USMC.

                                PEACE
