I have the flashing BF2 problem. I get the menu to come up, and I want to say, I uninstalled the game manually by removing the game files, but my remove programs list says its still there. Anyway, if I try to install the game, it flashes the install sheild wizard after loading, and doesn't do anything. This has been happening for about a year. Anyone know what I should do?

When you manually delete game files and don't use the uninstall application the remove programs list will display it still.
But I think you can remove it from the list.
As for the installing part I can't help you.

It also flashes if I try to uninstall it from the program thingy. Did I mention that?

Search the forums for threads related to editing your registry files of all left over BF2 keys. You might also want to try a couple of programs to help you get rid of them.
CC cleaner and Unlocker do a google search for them..there both freeware.
This is a known issue with many threads devoted to helping solve this issue.
