Minimum specs for running BF2...

I'm running a slow computer compared to what all you guys are running, and i want to know what a decent computer is that i could upgrade to, within the 1000 euro range...
I can still run BF2 surprisingly well now tho.

I believe this is the one that meets the minimum requirements, but I heard it only got about 15 frames per second on all medium settings and no anti aliasing.

If you have a system that can run BF2 now then we really need to know what it is before giving you upgrade advice.

Eh, I could give you the Specs for respectable performance on Max Settings at 1024x768 & 1280x1024:

CPU: +3200 64

GPU: ATI X800 or X700 Pro if you want to save cash.

Mobo: MSI, Asus, Abit (if you're feeling lucky), Gigabyte... any major brand. I suggest staying away from all Multi GPU setups. The performance gain is barely noticeable at standard resolution. Yet, the hit on your wallet is very pronoucned.

PSU: Antec, Enermax, PC-Power and Cooling (Expensive). Any major brand will work. Antec's are about as boring as they come but extremely realiable if you leave overclocking to the Frame-Nuts.

Case: Lian-Li. They make 100$ cases now, and you cannot go wrong with Lain Li. They are basically the Ferrari of cases.

As for the rest, use what you already have. If your HD isn't big enough, I would suggest going with a 160 Seagate 7,200. It's not the best performer in the world, yet, it's very realiable. If you're on a budget, realiability is more important than a second or two in load times and seek times. A 10k Raptor that dies on you isn't very fast after all.

You can PM if you want me to go into insane detail. Yet that setup above will easily run you about 600-800 bucks, and BF2 on Max Settings at the standard resolution for most 17" and 19" monitors.

Thanks Paas, btw if you want to know my specs are in my sig, 2.66Ghz Pentium 4 845 Brookdale, 512Mb ram, 120Gb Seagate 7.200 RPM, and a Micro-Star mobo

I prefer a pre built system, but building it myself is fine.

I run BF2 decently with an A64 3000+, ATI 9800 Pro 128mb, 1GB ram, Audigy 2 ZS. I run at almost high quality and it runs pretty good. The one thing that you should absolutely get is a good sound card. The builtin one will slow your game down tons.

1,7 Ghz CPU Pentium 4, 512 Ram, Ati 9700 pro, 120 Gb 2x Maxtor 40 Gb +80 Gb, Intel micro atx motherboard, Creative 5.12 Sound Blaster. Thats it, I got 30+ FPS on Karkand and Urban Maps, even more on the others, D.shadows off, D.light off, some setings on med. some on low.

Currently I'm on a:

CPU - AMD +3200 64 @ 2ghz (I don't overclock).
RAM - 1.5-Gigs of Geil - PC3200 Value Ram
Power Supply - Antec-350 True Power
Mobo - Abit KN8
HD - Seagate 7200 80gb
GPU - Xtasy 700Pro 256mb

I run BF2 Cranked to the Max at 1024x768. Which is the standard resoultion for my 15' Compaq LCD. No skipage what-so-ever.

It's good to keep in mind the standard resolution of your monitor. If you're on a 19" or below. Anything past a X1800 or a 7800gt is a big waste of cash, and will be a for a good bit.

Hell, I run Oblivion Maxed out on my Setup without any slowdown, full A.A. and AF.
