Crash to desktop after splash screen

Amd 4000
Asus 18n SLI
1gb DDr ram
geforce 7800 gtx

Before upgrading with above kit, BF@ and SF ran fine on my PC. Now I get the above prob. It will run upto v 1.03, but any update after that causes the prob. I can run it in another xp account, but not administrator. ALL drivers and patches up to date. Cant understand it. I have tried all the tricks with refresh rates, but to no avail. Any ideas?

Having same issue just got new laptop with GeForce Go 7800 GTX, AMD FX-60 processor installed BF2 and can't even play it gah!

using official nvidia drivers? or the ones that came on the discs from the vid card manufacturer?

Heh, here's one for ya...
First got all hardware installed, Reformatted, Reinstalled XP, Installed BF2, sweet tits it worked ALL day, downloaded 1.22 patch and it terminated after splash screen,
ok so then i reformatted, reinstalled again, updated drivers, nothing. downloaded the patch again, same thing. OK, Load up the tower, take it to a buddies, hooked all his stuff up, no surprise same thing. reformatted again, reinstalled, upgraded drivers, HOLY CRAP it worked...before the patch. Installed the patch and once again same termination. OK one more time, reformatted, reinstalled, upgraded drivers, installed bf2, downloaded patch immediately, installed patch, IT WORKS...played about 3 hours at his house till about midnight. loaded up the tower, brought it home set it down, hooked it up today after i got off and NOW IT TERMINATES AFTER SPALSH SCREEN, uninstalled, reinstalled, 4 or 5 times, still same thing. I am lost why would it work over there and not here i have NO IDEA.........any help would be greatly appriciated.

Hey guys well i figured out my crash after splash problem thx to someone in another thread....all i did was delete the entire battlefield 2 folder out of my documents and it started right up...sorry i can't give props to the actual person cause i don't remember who or where the thread was but to whoever it was.....props thx

Well found a post that solved my problem was actually pretty simple the laptops display runs at 61Hz and BF2 is set default to run 65Hz so just had to go into documents and bf2 folder profile and change that to 61Hz and tada works like a charm.
