thanks for the advice on my graphics now it's time for audio

i have realtek '97 with the alc655 codec

now my problem is i can't get my logitech gaming headset to work on the voip
it won't work on the speaker test

does anyone have a solution

i have blue, green and pink sockets.

green for speakers, blue headphones and pink for mic

the sound is great but the mic is detected as a stereo line in with an exclamation mark (yes it's connected right) i think it has something to do the volume control on windows.

basically i want someone with the same soundcard (let me know if there is a better driver or codec) that uses voip fine to post there settings (sound) here.

well that is integrated audio, make sure you have the correct drivers installed for it, and then plug the right things into the right sockets. I usually dont see a blue colored jack for headphones, usually heaphones are green as well, so try that, and pink would be microphone. make sure that the mic is turned up in your audio settings, and not muted. and make sure it is turned on on the headset.

There used to be a good thread about this some time ago.
I can only switch my mic on by using the setup that you get via the control panel, if I open the nvidia utility it will not work for me.

So control Panel->Sound, speech, and audio devices->Sound and audio devices.

Now select tab "volume" click "advanced ..." and go to options->Properties.
Select the "recording" radio button and click OK. Now make sure the microphone is selected, in my case I also have to click "advanced" again and check aternative (or something similar, I'm not at home so can't check right now).

yeah i see

hmm when im choosing mic for recording after going through this the radio button won't give me a tick i click it and it stays blank???

I would guess that there is a problem with the audio drivers as they don't recognise the proper hardware. You could try removing and reinstalling the audio drivers.

What motherboard and audio drivers do you have?

er i went to the realtek website downloaded the alc655 codec

driver 5.1 somtheting or other according to bf2 and my motherboard i dunno what it is how do i find out it's an oem comp i did the card and ram thats all (768 ram)

ill try uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it on boot the default one

right well here is the latest

i have realtek ac97 driver: 5.10.0.6030

3 jacks at the back 2 at the front

Blue,green,and pink

i have a 5.1 set of speakers connected to the green (front speakers)
i can put them in blue if i want.

i have a new logitech precision gaming headset w/ mic

i plug the headphones into the blue and mic into pink

in the sound effects manager i go to connector sensing and click start

1) power speaker (green)
2) headphones (blue)
3) stereo line-in! why is this here i correct it to mic and try again this time it comes up with an exclamtion mark saying it isn't plugged in properly check it. well der its in ok. why do pc's have to be so bloody crap i cant wait for the ps3 life is gonna be so much easier.

so my question is does anyone have the same gear that is working fine and can talk on voip and play the fricking game the way it's supposed to?

the mic isn't muted and is selected the correct drivers are installed (digitally signed!) and the headphone work fine aswell as the speakers just not the mic.

and one small : when i load up battlefield 2 the mic is muted automatically which i have to unmute by going back to the desktop.

ANYONE please put me out of my misery.
