    15 Fps

When playing for any amount of time (can be long or short) my FPS will suddenly drop to 15 dead and not budge at all.
My screen resolution and refresh rate match the one I have in windows and this has never happened before.
    System spec:
    Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3400+
    Memory: 1022MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 LE
    Running at 1024x768 @60 Hertz

    Any help appreciated.

    Anyone?

    Re: 15 Fps

Welcome to my life, I've had this problem for over a week now and there isn't anything I can do to get out of this 15 FPS rut. I've tried everything from www.teakguides.com to get my fps up, but no, also I've updated every driver on my pc and I've reinstalled BF2 over 15 times.

I've also posted on this problem in every BF2 forum I've found and other hardware forums. I see that there are a lot of us that are stuck with 15 FPS but no one has found a solution to this problem.

    Anyways, here's my specs.

    Amd Athlon 64 3500+
    GeForce 6800 GS 512 MB
    2 GB Kingston HyperX PC3200 @ 400 mhz
Maxtor Diamond 10 300 GB 7200 RPM HD
    Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
    Antec TruPower II 400 W

Everything is connected correctly and all of my other games run perfect(Quake 4, HL2, F.E.A.R, CSS and PES 5), so the only thing I can imagine is that EA/DICE messed something up with their coding.

You might want to use differnet video drivers. Go to 3D Acclerator for the latest modded video drivers. Several Nvidia Users think the XTreme-G 84.25v2 work well.

        Re: 15 Fps

I've tried a lot of different drivers already, from beta to whql to modified and none of them make any difference.

The thing is that this just suddenly happened, I played fine for a few days then the next time I loaded up the game it was just stuck @ 15 fps.

I've tried running all different types ingame setups and it doesn't matter if its 800x600 with everything low to 1280x1024 everything high and 2xaa and it just sits happily @ 15 fps. Tried turning v-sync on and off. I've even formatted my HD and reinstalled Windows XP.

I don't have any anti virus software, but I don't have any virus on my pc either(I do regular online scans from F-Secure) and I don't have a software Firewall either(Have one on my router), but that doesn't matter since I can play the game "fine(1024x768 on med.)" on my laptop.

Hustler_Baby i would recommend another gigabit of ram. Mystiq i would recommend disabling any services in your Windows XP of what you are not using. Make sure your in-game video resolution is same as your desktop and that the refresh rate is maxed out to the highest level (normally 85 or 100 whcih ever is the highest).

Gotta try this once I get home from work(propably wont work, but if it does it'd be awesome).

I have been doing this from day 1 :) and it's set @ 60 for my LCD.

cant people recognize that the game is a hog? and that sometimes your hardware doesnt cut it? yes i agree... hustlers rig seems pretty good, and though a gig of ram would help I dont think it would help with being stuck at 15fps. it could be a number of issues like faulty hardware. its not EA's fault the BF2 engine sucks.... its only their fault that them and dice used it ^_^

Ok im starting to get pretty annoyed with these posts. Read over things before you make comments. This is NOT, i repeat NOT an issue with system specs.

EA just hates us all and puts random code in their products to give you 15fps. how the hell do you think they are supposed to address this "problem"? lol, o yeah let us just go in and fix that real quick -_-

I had this problem, its your CPU. All you have to do is just clean your CPU. That'll fix it. I remember having this problem a while ago and i was getting fustrated. Hope this can help.

                          Re: 15 Fps

Do you guys have an antivirus or firewall program installed? I know that when the BF2.exe was updated with a patch, McAfee didn't like giving it access to the internet. I was able to get on servers and stuff, but it was very slow and pretty much at 15fps constant. What seemed really weird to me was that I had disabled the McAfee services and startup programs in msconfig so that I wouldn't have a bunch of programs running, yet I still got this problem.
It was fixed once I granted bf2.exe access to the internet with Mcafee's firewall control panel.

you know what, i tried that too but maybe i missed on of the background tasks on McAfee. I will try enabling it in the firewall although im fairly sure its enabled. Did you turn it off then back on?

Its not at 15 fps constantly, it just suddenly drops after an hour or so of play and then stays there (even after restarting BF2 and the computer).

I recently installed those drivers suggested and it has so far held out (75 fps in the halls of iron gator!!!)

Thanks for the response, I hope you get your problem sorted Mystiq, and I hope EA takes notice of you G0st.
