This is really weird. I hate Ea, by-the-way.


I tried to install the patch just a minute ago but when I did it says unable to load you need the 1.21 patch. WTFO? I have been playing the damn game since the 1.21 Patch because I installed this patch. Well, I get the 1.21 incremental Patch and try to install this patch even though I know I already have it install. How else would I have been able to play? Well, it says you need the 1.12 Patch to install this patch. WTFO? This is insane. I've been playing the G$%amn game up until yesterday with no stinking problems.

Dude, same here. I got it to work by reinstalling BF2, but now I get an "unmodified content" error. I can't play!!

Exactly. I uninstalled and re-installed BF2. Went to the EA Web Site and downloaded the entire 372 mb 1.22 Patch. What a waste of time. Same message you got. Un-freaking-real. WTFO? Has EA got their head firmly implanted up their arse or what?

Same here but for EF! I just bought EF and I cant play it because of the modified content error!

I was able to update to 1.22 ok, I also downloaded the Euro Forces expansion and whenever i try to logon to Euro maps (eg Great Wall) I get the "modified error". Does anyone know a fix for this yet?

If you installed the EF "after" patching to 1.22, try installing the "full" 1.22 patch and see if that fixes the problem.

I still hate EA but my problem is solved. I had to delete everything. Even the Profile stuff. Everything. I might not have had to do this but I found duplicates of some files. I don't how this happened but it had to be something I did. Anyway, I uninstalled everything. Even BF2SF. Then Re-installed BF2. Then BF2SF, which came with the 1.1 Patch. Once that was done I loaded up the 1.22 Patch. I had to redo all my keyboard settings but I am In like Flynn, now. It was a pain in the arse and may have been resolved in a different manner but I have only the most basic of skills when it comes to computers so this seemed like the simplest solution.

yeah I have the same problem with 1.22, but listen to this...so i uninstalled bf2 thinking that i would just reinstall everything but now i can't even re-install bf2 it quits just before loading up....i'm so POed...i've checked out the registry to see if there was anything left over and there is nothing...I've tried to manually install the cd's but that still dosen't work...why can't ea get there heads out of there bums and release a patch that actually works for once.

i'm feeling inspired to write a nice letter to ea...

Patch 1.22 will not cause a fresh install problem like you are relating to, but anyways... It sounds like you have other problems with something running on your system or the system itself has a problem.

First, make sure your antivirus is up-to-date and reboot into safemode and run the antivirus. Fix any problems found.

Then, download and run Spybot S&D, don't forget to run the update before scanning.

I would also run hijackthis and startuplist (both from merijn) to make sure nothing is installed or starting that you do not want.

i got it to work...i messed arround with the registry some more and found some other stuff...but i can't get the full patch 1.22 to install...that also quits durring the install...but i'll check it out and give ya all an update
