Re: Patch Lag - Email/Post being sent to EA

The email has been sent now to EA's hq. They will respond back within 24 hours. I will be keeping you updated.

I contacted you awhile back concerning the studdering lag issue with BF2 after patch i think 1.2. The game is now laggy to the point where i cannot play.

    The events that occure.

Login to account server, hit Multiplayer. When the Server menu loads all the pings are over 500. I have Cable internet, not sure of the mbits but i dl at 600 kb/sec. When i join the server (*East coast) My ping is about 150-200. On past favorites they were 30.

When i walk around now the game seems to be calculating the netcode wrong or something. Its as if im sprinting. The gun animation goes and and up continously, as if the animation is broken. My fps are no higher than 15 or no lower. It stays right at 15/66.7.

As you will note later down there are other users with this issue too.

In Single player There are no FPS problems at all even with the settings all on High.

This seems to be a netcode problem and several people have contacted EA with the reponse that this is an isloated issue and that it is on the users end. I have re-installed 5 times with both incremenatl patches and full install patches to no avail.

    My system specs

    Athlon 64 3400 Socket 754
2 GB DDR (Samsung) pc3200 (400 mhz) Ram
    GeForce 6800 Ultra 256 Megs
    600 PSU
    4 Fans
Forgive me but i am at work and i cannot remember the Motherboard name.

I took the liberty of sending upo an account at hotmail and have people with the same issue as me to send an email.

    here are the others' problems.

(PLACE WHERE PEOPLE EMAILED ME WAS HERE WITH ALL THE INFO)

As you can see the issue is not isloated, these are only a few of the emails i recieved with a variety of processors, memory and gpu's.

    Thanks for the help

    Chris

Re: Patch Lag - Email/Post being sent to EA

This problem has been around since the game came out, It was that bad I uninstalled the game because I found the lag/disconnection a JOKE!! having bought a new G/card I thought Id have another go at it, but until I find out what patches to get I wont really know if the games any better.

If EA dont sort this problem out soon people will just uninstall the game and leave it on the shelve to gather dust.

Come on EA sort it out.

There was a solution posted. It worked for me. You had to do something in windows and disable something

Re: Patch Lag - Email/Post being sent to EA

            Hello,

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts. I’m sorry for the difficulty that you are having with The Battlefield 2 game. Were you able to play the game before with out the difficulties you are having now?

Please make sure that you have closed any programs or tasks running in the background as sometimes one of the programs can conflict with the game. Background applications such as anti-virus programs are often the cause of conflicts.

            · Hold down the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete keys at the same time
            · Click the "Processes" tab.
            · Click on the gray bar in the middle column that says User Name to sort by user name.
            · Do NOT select anything for SYSTEM, LOCAL SERVICE, or NETWORK SERVICE.
            · Click on anything besides EXPLORER and TASKMGR for this User Name or other user names.
            · Click on END PROCESS
            · Repeat these steps until only explorer.exe and taskmgr.exe are open for this user profile.

Don't worry that you are permanently changing your system configuration; these applications will return when you restart your system.
If you receive a warning for any of these, don't worry it is a standard warning message and is expected. Please click "yes" and continue.

Also please be informed that there is a latest patch available for the game. The Battlefield 2 v1.3 patch is now available at:

You will need to follow the steps below after updating or changing a setting.

            1. Click on the Start button.
            2. Click on the My Documents icon.
            3. Right-click on the Battlefield2 folder.
            4. Select delete.
            · NOTE: All of the user stats are held server side. So customers should not lose any stats by doing this.
            5. Try the game again.

You may also check the link on 'How do you improve online gameplay and lag?'

If the issue persist, I'm going to need additional system information. Please send me this information from a program called dxdiag.exe. To do this:

            · Go to Start -> Run.
            · In the box, type the following: dxdiag
            · Click "OK"
            · Click the "Save All Information" button on the first screen of the application.
            · Then on top of the "Save As" box that pops up, select Desktop (if it's not set to save there already), then click Save.
            · Finally, attach the dxdiag.txt to your email reply.

After we receive this file we can continue troubleshooting the issues at hand and hopefully come to a solution.

Should you require further assistance about this or any Electronic Arts games in the future please visit our website and review our extensive Self Help knowledgebase (http://support.ea.com)

            Thanks!

OMFG, they charge $1.95/min for tech support?!:laugh:

In general, you're better off going to forums (like this one) for help then calling tech support. Not only is it free but you're get better informed information then anyone on the other end of the phone. :)
