Oh yeah, that's the best. I love having a tank ready to be killed only to die by firing into a clear wall! :laugh:

I've got a handful of suicides from that.

I don't think it's easy to do, every game I've played has clipping issues like that. Only solution I could think of is make the walls and everything thicker so the legs aren't really exposed....

Think about that for a second, though. In terms of real world scale it looks to me from the picture posted (and from experience) that legs can protrude between 12 to 18 inches, give or take. Think about how that would look, aesthetically speaking, if every wall on the map had to be a foot thick. Everything would have to be modeled in a seriously ham handed fashion. It would be like BFWolfenstein.

But if another object does not have a collision mesh then it will go through other objects even if they have one.

thats why sometimes you kill yourself firing an AT round over some railing only to explode yourself because your belly wasn't above the railing.

I think the majority of my suicides are caused by this. Fortunately it seems to have improved a bit in the 1.2 patch; maybe they moved the firing point a little higher. I've noticed I can at least fire over the wall overlooking the MEC base at the City Entrance on Sharqi now.

Does this mesh represent the lethal area we need to aim at? If so then shooting hands and feet won't make any killing. This contradicts early testimonial of knifing soldiers hiding at the corner. .

I believe its the contact zone for interacting with the enviroment, not the hit detection for bullets.

The collision mesh is used only for physics and collisions like hitting a car or a wall. I do not think it is the same as the one affected by bullets.

again, why not simply make the mesh for soldiers longer? so that it hits the wall before you go thru it

Interesting find! I have never died from my legs sticking out in the corner before, but have made numerous kills from that.

Yeah I've made a few guilty kills by shooting peoples exposed legs.

I knifed a guy in the heel who was spawn raping me, @ an uncap
